‘New Girl’ Star Says Taylor Swift Was a ‘Better Actor’ Than the Show’s Cast

New Girl” regular cast member Max Greenfield has said that Taylor Swift was a “better actor” than the rest of the show’s cast when she made a surprise cameo appearance in 2013.

The singer and musician made a special guest appearance on “New Girl” for the finale of the second season. She played Elaine in the hit Fox sitcom, a part that saw her dramatically interrupt the wedding of Cece and Shivrang, eventually running away with Shivrang as his true love.

Now more than a decade later, Greenfield has discussed Swift’s performance on the show during a recent episode of the “Therapuss” podcast with Jake Shane. During the conversation, he offered nothing but praise for the singer-songwriter.

Taylor Swift’s ‘New Girl’ Cameo Impressed Max Greenfield

Greenfield is best known for portraying the character Winston Schmidt in “New Girl.” He played Schmidt throughout all seven seasons of the show. But out of all the celebrity guests and cameos, it appears that Swift left a lasting impression on him when she made her memorable appearance in season 2.

In particular, the actor explained that upon meeting Swift and seeing her perform, he was struck by her positive attitude when she first arrived on set. Notably, he remembered Swift being completely comfortable with the cast and crew rather than behaving like an enormous celebrity. “She was so lovely,” he revealed.

“Taylor wasn’t quite yet Taylor, but I remember she was on set and we were hanging out and she was so kind,” Greenfield said “She was a better actor than all of us.”

He added, “I remember asking her, I said, ‘Can I ask a question?’ She was like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ And I go, ‘If you could play like to an intimate audience or a big arena — What do you prefer?’ And she goes without missing a beat, she goes, ‘If you could fill the ocean with people, I’d like to play for that.’”

A ‘New Girl’ Reunion Could Be Coming

Greenfield’s latest comments come just a few weeks after he suggested that a “New Girl” reunion could be in the works. During an appearance on “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle,” the actor said that he said “as far as I know, it’s happening” when asked about a new season of the show. He even said that he had scene scripts and described them as “amazing.”

However, writer and series creator Liz Meriwether then released her own statement online. She jokingly claimed that she had written scripts but development was being delayed due to the excessive demands of the cast.

“Max told everybody that there’s amazing scripts of a New Girl reunion that I’ve written. Um — and just an update on that — the scripts were pretty good until everybody just started giving me notes on every little thing,” she explained.

This follows a trend among the cast of the show to give unreliable answers about the state of the show and its future when asked.
