1990s and 2000s pop music sensation and former *NSYNC member Lance Bass has revealed he has an new children’s book on the way.
The book, titled “The Legend of Mrs. Claws,” is a follow-up and companion title to his 2024 debut offering “Trick or Treat on Scary Street.” A Christmas tale, it will feature the same black cat, who lives on Scary Street, first introduced in the critically acclaimed Halloween story.
Bass, 46, took to his Instagram account to share the exciting news with his 1.3 million followers, while People exclusively revealed the book’s colorful cover to the wider public.

Lance Bass couldn’t hide his excitement when posting about his new book. His post about it comprised two images — one of him proudly holding a copy of the book, the other a closeup of the cover with the release date under it.
Bass’ caption on the post began, “What if Mrs. Claws… was actually Santa’s cat? 🐈⬛”
It continued, “Introducing The Legend of Mrs. Claws- available for pre-order now and on shelves this September!”
The post’s caption went on, “A tiny black cat who first appeared in Trick or Treat on Scary Street trying VERY hard to be scary… but mostly just causing chaos. My kids immediately fell in love with her, and I started wondering what happens to a Halloween misfit once October is over.”
“Well apparently… she sneaks onto Santa’s sleigh🎅,” it revealed.
The caption concluded, “Can’t wait for y’all to dive back into this world with me and meet this mischievous little stowaway.”
Additionally, Bass spoke to the aforementioned People about the new book. He told the publication, “I’ve always loved the idea that the misfits and the magical can live in the same world. When we were creating “Trick or Treat on Scary Street,” there was a tiny black cat who always stuck out to me — scrappy, determined and trying very hard to be a little scarier than she actually was.”
He continued, “My kids are also huge cat lovers, so that little character quickly became a favorite in our house. I started wondering what might happen to her once Halloween was over… and that’s how “The Legend of Mrs. Claws” was born.”
Naturally, Bass’ followers rushed to the comments section of his Instagram post about the book to have their say.

Meanwhile, several fans demanded a book tour, with one commenting, “Please tell me you’ll try to do a book tour come back to Florida we missed you last time.”

“The Legend of Mrs. Claws,” from Hachette Book Group imprint Union Square Kids, will go on sale on September 29 and is now available for pre-order.
