A-Lister’s Son Reveals He’s Living in a Nashville ‘Trailer Park’

Chet Hanks, the famous son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, revealed he’s living in a trailer park in Nashville as he pursues his music career.

Chet Hanks’ Trailer Park Home

Hanks, who is currently starring in Netflix’s “Running Point” alongside Kate Hudson and Brenda Song, opened up about his living situation during an appearance on the “Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.”

“I didn’t want to get an apartment because I literally just got a condo in L.A. and I furnished it,” he said during the Tuesday, April 28, episode. “I didn’t want to do that again, and I didn’t want to furnish it. So I was, like, staying in Airbnbs and hotels, and that gets really old because I just like having my own space.”

The 35-year-old musician explained that his decision to live in a “trailer park” in Tennessee was inspired by a recent solo road trip up the California coast.

“I was just bored by myself. I wanted to do a little getaway,” he continued. “I drove up to the Bay Area in Carmel, if you know where Carmel is in California. It’s really beautiful. And I stayed in an Airstream trailer. And I really loved it. And I was like, man, I want one of these. I want to get one of these. So I did. I got a trailer.”

According to the “White Boy Summer” artist, his unusual living situation is “not what you think.”

“I’m probably the youngest person in the trailer park by like– probably by like 30 or 40 years,” he laughed. “You think, oh, you’re gonna live in a trailer park. It might be a little sketchy. It might be a little dangerous. It’s all just, like, retirees, you know?”

Chet Hanks’ Big Move

Hanks first revealed his plans to move into a trailer late last month. He took to social media to share his first major feat in his new lifestyle journey.

“Come with me to pick up my new trailer and tow it and park it for the first time,” he said. “I’ve never towed anything…Here’s the moment of truth. I’ve gotta back it up, hitch it up and get it to the trailer park.”

“I’m a little nervous,” he admitted while towing his 27-foot house on wheels.

He later gave fans a tour of his Jayco 2026 Eagle HT Travel Trailer. Hanks showed off photos of the spacious living space, full-sized dining table and upgraded kitchen.

Hanks told Fallon that his model includes a walk-in shower, which he described as a “big deal with trailers.”

“With magnetic drawers and doors, sturdy pantry ledges, and reinforced shelves, your belongings stay secure, no matter how winding the road gets,” the Jayco website states. “When it’s time to wind down, sink into the plush Olympic bed — 6” wider and 8” thicker than standard RV mattresses — featuring Cooling Tech for a more restful, cooler night’s sleep. Wake up to breathtaking views through the large front windshield (most models), complete with a reflective blackout shade to keep the heat out and privacy in.”
