Martha Stewart may have just celebrated her 85th birthday, but the legendary lifestyle maven is showing no signs of slowing down.
On Monday, August 24, Entertainment Weekly reported that Stewart will be debuting not one but two different projects on Netflix, both arriving this week.
‘Martha Cooks’
Stewart previously appeared on Netflix via R.J. Cutler’s Emmy-nominated 2024 documentary “Martha.”
Now, she’s returning to the the streamer, with Netflix picking up “The Martha Stewart Podcast” and her “Martha Cooks” culinary series.
Per EW, the podcast will debut on Netflix on Wednesday, August 26, part of the streamer’s recent video podcast partnershipt with iHeartMedia. “The series will also continue as an audio podcast distributed by iHeartPodcasts,” notes EW, “but full video episodes will now be available to watch on Netflix.”
Along with that, “Martha Cooks” will make its Netflix premiere the day prior, on Tuesday, August 25.
Martha is ‘Delighted’ to Partner with Netflix
Stewart responded to the news in a statement.
“I’m delighted to bring my podcast to Netflix, and with that, introduce the medium of video to the series,” Stewart said.
“Netflix is the perfect partner to share and amplify the thoughtful and informative conversations the show is known for with an even greater audience,” she added.
According to the podcast’s description, it “features guests from the worlds of business, art, food and more talking about their careers, personal stories, ideas and insights. The podcast launches on Netflix with an episode featuring Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Stewart and Ohanian sit down for a wide-ranging conversation about love, ambition, family, pets, investing and life with his wife, Serena Williams.”
Everybody Loves Martha
Ever since her hit series “Martha Stewart Living” made its TV debut in 1993, Stewart has remained a ubiquitous media presence througout the decades that followed.
Her popularity remains undiminished, something made clear in the fact that Netflix is getting into the Martha Stewart business.
Beyond her legions of fans, Stewart is also beloved by some of the world’s top chefs.
During an episode of his podcast “Bobby on the Beat,” Food Network star Bobby Flay gushed about Stewart.
“Whenever I’m in the same room with Martha Stewart, I come out smarter,” he said, per Parade. “She is the smartest person I’ve ever come across in my life — she knows everything about everything.”
Another celebrity fan is chef David Chang, who praised her in the docuseries “The Many Lives of Martha Stewart.” Comparing Stewart to legendary PBS host Julia Child (as reported by CT Insider), he said, “Julia Child was pragmatic, real. Martha couldn’t enroach on that. Martha was about finesse, excellence and progression. She was doing what Anna Wintour was doing with Vogue. Martha was doing it with food.”
Chef Emily Brubaker — who won the first season of Stewart’s TV cooking competition “Yes, Chef!” — also offered high praise for Stewart’s kitchen acumen.
“If you overcook it, she’s going to know. You under season it, she’s going to call you out,” she told Table Magazine. “She is straight up, this is how it should be. And she doesn’t waiver from that.”
