Netflix premiered “The Lincoln Lawyer” in May 2022 after CBS initially passed on the courtroom drama. Now, years later, the streamer has aired four successful seasons. Unfortunately, it has been announced that the series will end with its upcoming season five.
Variety reported on May 13 that the show was not only in production for another season but that it would also be its last. The series stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, Jazz Raycole, Neve Campbell, and Krista Warner.
The show is based on the bestselling Michael Connelly book series, including “The Brass Verdict,” “The Fifth Witness,” and “The Gods of Guilt.”
The Lincoln Lawyer Showrunners Released a Statement
GettyThe co-showrunners, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, released a joint statement announcing that “Lincoln Lawyer” is coming to an end. Per Variety, they began, “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us.”
The statement continued, “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.”
Humphrey and Rodriguez added, “We are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way. But most of all, we are grateful to the fans all around the world for watching and supporting the show. We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We can’t wait to share it with you!”
Season 5 Details
GettyCurrently, it’s unclear when season 5 of Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” will premiere. What is known about the upcoming installment is that it’s based on Connelly’s “Resurrection Walk” novel. The final season will feature 10 episodes.
The streamer also announced new guest stars for the show. They include Amy Aquino, Elpidia Carillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O’Donnell.
The logline for the season states, “Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) world is upended when the half-sister he never knew existed, Emi (Cobie Smulders), comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman. In a season defined by blood ties and buried secrets, Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn a six-year-old murder conviction, but the deeper he digs, the more nefarious the forces arrayed against him become.”
The tagline goes on to discuss high stakes for the characters, with some stemming from past events from the hit Netflix series. It then says, “But as he unravels a dangerous web of corruption and lies, he must grapple with the fractured legacy of his family — both his chosen family and the family he never knew he had.”
‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Has Strong Ratings And Reviews
Season four of “The Lincoln Lawyer” premiered in February 2026. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the show delivered 2 billion minutes of viewing time for its debut week. This figure represents a 22% increase from its season three premiere in October 2024.
Regarding reviews, the show sits at a healthy 92% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences gave the show an 84%.
