Naturally, “Dexter” fans on social media have voiced their disdain for the spin-off’s cancellation. One person on X wrote, “Cancelling Dexter original sin seems like a huge mistake by Paramount.”
Someone else said, “Coming back here all hyped after watching the new episode of #DexterResurrection just to see original sin is cancelled is just ….”
Another fan stated, “It’s not too late for them to change their mind and give us Original Sin season 2, which they should do given the response. I loved the series, season 1 had a good ending, but I’m always open to more.”
It’s also important to note that the “Dexter” prequel series debuted with and maintained strong viewership. According to Variety, the season finale drew in 2.68 million viewers, representing a 27 percent increase over its premiere.
The Cast is Reacting
As previously reported, Paramount had initially renewed “Dexter: Original Sin” for a season two. Because of this, the cast planned to return to the set sometime this year. One of the stars of the show, Alex Shimizu, has posted a series of TikTok videos on the matter.
In one, he posted a shot of the set from their last day on set. Shimizu used a text overlay that read, “Last day ever at Miami Metro.” He captioned the video, “Filmed this thinking we’d be back next year.”
