Cyndi Lauper is in the midst of grieving the loss of Dolly Parton, alongside million of friends and fans across the globe. Dolly’s family released a statement yesterday to announce that she had passed away at the age of 80. Her team confirmed a number of hours later that the cause was an undisclosed brief battle with cancer.
Cyndi clearly adored Dolly, deeming her as “great role model” and someone who loved to help people.
Cyndi Lauper’s Tribute to Dolly Parton
Cyndi shared a single black and white throwback photo of herself and Dolly smiling together. The ladies beamed at the camera and leaned their heads close together, Dolly with her fabulously huge signature blond hair and Cyndi with a chic bob.
Written alongside the photo, the “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” singer spoke about being unable to fathom that someone as amazing as Dolly is no longer here on Earth. She said: “It’s hard for me to imagine the world without Dolly. Dolly’s heart was as big as her talent. She was not only a great singer/song writer/actress/TV star, Dolly also lived her art. She used her art, her fame and her money to help so many people. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve thought to myself, “What would Dolly do?” She was a great role model for all of us.”
Cyndi then finished her statement off by wishing Dolly well wherever she is now, and said how much she hopes she has been reunited with all of the loved ones she lost and hoped to meet again someday. The post concluded: “I hope she is in a place with Carl, her Mom and Dad and all her loved ones who’ve passed. She will be so missed. Rest in Peace Dolly.”
Dolly’s Family Share She Has Passed Away
Dolly Parton’s family posted a video message to her social media profiles today announcing that she had passed away. Bryan Seaver read out the tragic news, speaking to a camera. He shared: “Hey everyone, my name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I am representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean.
“Sister, sis, aunt, granny to one generation, and Gigi to the next. This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now. It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, but not with Dolly.
“Dolly has lived in the light […] met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens. […] Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life , and across every continent. By her example, we believed that anything was possible.
“She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD, and your phone playlist becoming an extended part of your family.”
