Actor turned director Ron Howard has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Howard’s showbiz journey started as Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” then later as Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days.” By the ’80s, he’d quit acting to concentrate on his film career.
Four decades later, he’s become an Oscar-winning director with hits such as “Parenthood” and “A Beautiful Mind.” As it turns out, Ron isn’t the only talented member of the Howard family. His younger brother Clint Howard has etched out quite the career.
Carrying On the Howard Name
GettyBorn on April 20, 1959, Clint is the youngest son of actor Rance Howard and actress Jean Speegle. Like his famous parents and brother, Clint decided to pursue a career in acting. According to Hello Magazine, one of his first acting jobs came at two-years-old when he played Leon on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
Clint’s childhood acting career continued with guest spots on shows such as “The Fugitive” and “The Patty Duke Show.” He also did voice work in the animated films “The Jungle Book” and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.”
In his adult years, Clint often worked on many of Ron’s films, including “Splash” and “Apollo 13.” But the actor’s also become quite well known for his comedic and horror movie roles. Some of his memorable roles include the 1995 flick “Ice Cream Man” and “Terrifier 3.”
In 2024, the actor got to show off his dramatic side as Tom Starr on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Clint’s performance as the eccentric musician earned him a 2025 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series.
At 67-years-old, Clint’s career is still going strong. His most recent movie “The Wolf and the Lamb” was just released on April 24th. And according to IMBD, the actor has four more films in the works
Third Time’s the Charm For Clint
GettyWhile Ron and his wife Cheryl have been happily married for 51 years, Clint’s journey to finding love was a bit difficult. The “Backdraft” star has been divorced twice. His first marriage to Ann Marie Lynch last from 1988 to 1989, then his second marriage to Melanie Sorich ended in 2017 after 22 years together.
In July 2020, Clint married Kat Cruz and the third times seems to be the charm. Howard, who shares a daughter named Raffie with Cruz, often posts about his family life on Instagram. Pictures on his profile include family vacations to Mexico, nights out on the town, and quiet evenings at home.
In one of his sweet posts, “The Cinderella Man” actor gushed about his two favorite ladies. “I’m so blessed to have two beautiful women in my life. My caring, loving wife and my extremely talented, blossoming daughter. Kat and Raffie are the best, and this candid makes me so filled with joy❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽,” he captioned the post.
With a thriving acting career and a supportive wife and daughter; things are going great for Clint. One person’s who’s undoubtedly happy for him is his big brother Ron.
