Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Mourn Heartbreaking Family Loss

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are saying goodbye to a beloved family member. Gwen, 56, and Blake, 50, took to Instagram to share the sad news on social media Saturday, September 5, revealing that Betty, the dog who had been part of the couple’s life together for years, has passed away.

Gwen Stefani Shares Heartbreaking Tribute After Beloved Dog Betty Passes Away

“It’s with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet Betty has gone to heaven 💔🕊️🐾. She made us all smile for 18 years… we’re going to miss her forever. Thank you, Betty, for all the love + joy u brought into our lives 🦋💗 gx,” she wrote alongside a montage of memories.

Betty had been part of Blake’s life long before he and Gwen married in 2021, but over the years, she became unmistakably attached to both of them.

The couple even joked about Betty choosing sides during a 2020 interview with CMT. “She gets jealous,” Blake said at the time. “She’s Gwen’s dog now, so that’s where the jealousy comes in.”

Gwen quickly made it clear Betty had room for both of them, adding, “She loves both of her parents very much.”

Betty also regularly appeared in glimpses of the couple’s home life. In June, she could be spotted in footage Gwen shared from their Oklahoma ranch, where she and Blake spend much of their time away from the stage.

Was Betty in Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s ‘Nobody But You’ Video?

Betty also had a memorable role in one of Gwen and Blake’s biggest musical collaborations. She appeared in the 2020 music video for “Nobody But You,” which offered fans a more intimate look at the couple’s relationship. Betty is seen walking through the woods with Blake, then joining them as they cuddle on a couch.

The song became an important part of Gwen and Blake’s story, but Betty’s appearance added another piece of their real life.

Gwen Stefani Recently Shared a Sweet Betty Moment

Betty remained part of the couple’s adventures right up until her final weeks.

In August, Gwen brought Betty along when she surprised Blake at the VOA Country Music Festival, where the couple performed “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere” together. “me + betty decided to pull up on @blakeshelton,” Gwen captioned the video shared on Facebook.

The post, shared only weeks before Betty’s death, showed just how present she remained in their lives.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Have Long Shared Their Love of Animals

Betty also lived in a household filled with animals. In 2024, Gwen and Blake introduced fans to Corn Shelton, a kitten they found in poor condition and nursed back to health. Their Oklahoma property has also been home to other pets and farm animals over the years.

But Betty had been there through an especially long stretch of the couple’s story, appearing in family celebrations, ranch life and even their music. Gwen’s farewell made clear that after 18 years of memories, Betty’s absence will be deeply felt.

“We’re going to miss her forever,” she wrote.
