Legendary English screen queen Dame Helen Mirren has made her thoughts about Tom Hardy clear, following the pair’s reported beef on the set of the Paramount+ crime drama series “MobLand.”
On Saturday, May 23, British publication the Daily Mail reported that Hardy, 48, had been fired from “MobLand” because his on-set behavior had allegedly enraged his co-star Mirren.
Mirren, 80, played Maeve Harrigan, the matriarch of the Harrigan crime family, in the series. Hardy, meanwhile, played the lead role of Harry Da Souza, a fixer (someone assigned to solve problems) for the family. Both stars appeared in all 10 episodes of the show.
Per IMDb, the plot of “MobLand” is as follows: “Power is up for grabs as two warring crime families clash in a battle that threatens to topple empires. In the crossfire stands Harry Da Souza, a street-smart ‘fixer’ who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide.”
But did two opposing forces really collide on the set? A recent social media post by Mirren is very telling.
Helen Mirren Loves Tom Hardy ‘Now and Always’
In an extremely clear declaration that there is no beef between Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy, Mirren took to her Instagram account on Thursday, May 28, to express her thoughts about her “MobLand” co-star.
The post, shared with her 1.2 million followers, is a photograph of Hardy’s face.
Written across the picture are six simple words: “Love you now and always helen.”
And with those six words, the idea that there is any beef between Mirren and Hardy is well and truly put to bed.
The option to comment is turned off on the post, but the near-22,000 likes (at the time of writing) do suggest that Mirren’s fans are pleased to discover the happy truth about the supposed animosity between her and Hardy.
Mirren’s post isn’t the first time she has published something positive about Hardy on her Instagram account.
Mirren Loves Tom Hardy’s ‘Brilliance,’ ‘Dedication’ & ‘Good Heart’
Some 24 weeks ago, on Monday, December 8, 2025, Dame Helen Mirren shared another positive Tom Hardy post with her followers.
This one had another picture of Hardy, with the words “Things I love” written across the top.
A list then began of things Mirren is fond of, with the number one thing being “Christmas for obvious reasons.”
Number two on the list, however, said “Tom Hardy for his brilliance onscreen, his dedication off screen, his good heart and especially the HardyHugs I get when onset with him which is not nearly enough in my opinion.”
Instagram users are unable to comment on this one, either, but the near-10,000 likes tell the tale of her followers thoughts about it.
Suffice it to say, the post doesn’t sound like someone who ever had a problem with Hardy on the set of “MobLand.” It is, therefore, quite possible that the rumors of beef between the pair are categorically untrue.
“MobLand” remains the only collaboration between Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy to date. Given recent rumors — and the subsequent debunking of them by Mirren — it would undoubtedly be lovely to see them working together in the future (not least because we’d love for Mirren to get more of her favorite “HardyHugs”).
We wish both Mirren and Hardy well with their ongoing careers.
