Kelly Rutherford’s brother, Anthony Givanni Deane, revealed in an emotional Instagram post that he was involved in a ski accident earlier this month while he was in St Moritz, Switzerland, that put him in the ICU.
As a result, he suffered “broken ribs (11 total fractures), a shattered clavicle currently held together by a titanium plate + 9 screws, and a severely punctured lung w/ internal bleeding.” Deane was in the ICU for two weeks and had three surgeries.

In his Instagram post, which included numerous photos from their trip along with one of Deane in the hospital, he took a moment to thank the Gossip Girl star.
“Dedicating this to my sister Kelly 🤍 I don’t normally get too deep or personal on the Gram but feelin’ an emo overshare coming on so you’ve been warned,” he began. “I had a tiny ski accident on the 2nd leaving me with 9 broken ribs (11 total fractures), a shattered clavicle currently held together by titanium plate + 9 screws, and a severely punctured lung w/ internal bleeding…the kind of crash that really ruins your day.”
He went on to explain that his sister was “right there through 3 surgeries, carrying me through some impossible moments that took a lot of strength on her part.” However, when describing the accident, he said it was “pretty unsexy,” occuring when he was going to a restaurant.
At the end of the post, Deane also added that this incident has led him to quit smoking, which he has been doing since he was 14.
Kelly left a sweet comment in response, writing, “love you so much ♥️,” while her son also added, “Love you dude!!”
