Family traits run strong in Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn‘s family. In fact, the actor has just opened up about how the pair’s granddaughter, Rio Hudson, is just like her famous grandmother.
It turns out that 12-year-old Rio — the daughter of Goldie’s son and Kurt’s stepson, Oliver Hudson, and his wife Erinn Barlett — may be following in her family’s footsteps when it comes to a potential creative career.
“Rio is showing some serious chops with dancing ability,” Kurt said while sitting down for an interview with E! News alongside his son, Wyatt Russell. “There’s something about her. A lot of people call her ‘Mini Goldie.’”
Granted, Kurt pointed out that Rio also got her talent for performing from her mother, with the star noting, “Erinn was an actress when she met Oliver.”

When it comes to the fact that Rio is known as “Mini Goldie,” fans aren’t surprised. They made that clear by leaving plenty of comments when E! News posted about the pair on Instagram.

One Family Member Isn’t Interested in Acting

Along with her grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle being in the business, “her brothers Wilder Hudson, 18, and Bodhi Hudson, 15, as well as cousin Ryder Robinson, 22—the eldest son of Kate Hudson—[are] already snagging acting work,” according to E! News.
“It’s an interesting family in that regard,” Kurt told E! “Nobody really intentionally looks at acting as something that must be, ‘We must follow this tradition.’ There’s nobody doing that. Whether it strikes you or not, it strikes a lot of us.”
Granted, Wyatt pointed out that there’s one family member who isn’t interested in acting, his older brother Boston Russell, who is the son of Kurt and his ex-wife, Season Hubley.
“Boston wants nothing to do with anything,” Wyatt said, adding that despite being uninterested in the craft, “He’d be the best.”
Instead, Kurt said, “He’s the family therapist.”
