While Lamorne Morris‘ character Winston was always hilarious in “New Girl,” he struggled to find himself throughout the show. In Season 4, however, that all changed when joined the police force and became partners with Aly, played by “Saturday Night Live” alum Nasim Pedrad.
Together, Aly and Winston became a dynamic duo, one that was professional at first but soon blossomed into romantic. By the end of the series, the couple were together and happily married, with a flock of kids enough to make their own football team.
But while Winston and Aly were certainly endgame in “New Girl,” Morris and Pedrad were just friends in real life. That is, however, until the latest episode of “The Mess Around” podcast.
Lamorne Morris Asked Nasim Pedrad on a Date
In a recent TikTok clip of the podcast, Morris talked to former costar Hannah Simone, who played Cece on the show, about asking Pedrad out on a real date.
“I’mma go date Nasim,” he said. “Where she at? I’ma go date Nasim.”
Simone, who’s slightly in shock herself, jumps on the opportunity to support it. “You should,” she said. “Everybody’s been wanting this. Everybody’s been shipping this for a long time.”
Morris then calls Pedrad and puts her on speaker. “You’re on our podcast right now, you’re with me and Hannah,” he told her. “I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m just gonna date Nasim in real life.’ So, what’s up?”
Pedrad is confused at first. “Are you talking about now? Or back then?”
Morris then clarified that he’s talking about now, and blatantly asks if she’s single. “You got a man? You dating somebody?” he asked. “I just saw you the other day, you seemed single.”
“Are you asking me out on a date?” Pedrad then clarified, to which Morris goes one step further and says, “Not a date, let’s just be boyfriend girlfriend.”
“We’ve gone on many a dates as friends,” he explained. “Would you call those dates or friendship hangs?” Pedrad poked.
“Nasim, you’re being too complicated,” Lamorne said. “So yeah, I’m going to ask you on a date. I don’t know when, I’m busy so I ain’t got the time. But I will make the time.”
Despite the confusion on her end, Pedrad accept the spontaneous gesture. “I’m down!” she said. “Let’s go on a date!”

“This time I’m gonna have a rose, I’m gonna wear some spicy cologne,” Morris said.
“Are you gonna talk to me about the girls you’ve met on Raya?” Pedrad joked. “‘Cause that’s a huge part of our relationship right now.” “I mean, I could?” Morris teased back, adding, “If that’s what you’re into.”
Then Morris said goodbye and hung up the phone, with a huge smile stamped across his face. “Boom, I’m the man,” he said.
“You two really need to date ‘cause that was literally the worst way to ask a woman out on a date and you still somehow got a date,” Simone said. “Do you understand? Like, that’s magic. You guys have a real friendship. That’s a true foundation. Y’all age appropriate. She’s hot as hell. She’s got a job.”
