Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son, Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, stepped into the spotlight for a rare red carpet moment at a film screening in Utah.
The 22-year-old attended a screening of “Self Custody” on Friday, January 23, where he posed for photos alongside director Garrett Patten and producer Fernando Ferro.

Growing Up Around Film, But Staying Mostly Out of the Spotlight
GettyPax has been surrounded by filmmaking since being adopted by Jolie in 2007 and later by Pitt in 2008.
Even so, he has primarily chosen to remain out of the public eye in recent years. During his childhood, Pax appeared at high-profile events, including the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, and walked the red carpet at the world premiere of Jolie’s 2019 film “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.”
GettyHe also made a brief cameo in “Maleficent” and lent his voice to the character Yoo in his mother’s animated film “Kung Fu Panda 3.”
Why Acting Was Never the Goal
GettyDespite his early exposure to the spotlight, Jolie has always stated that acting was not Pax’s path.
“None of my children want to be actors,” Jolie told BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour in 2016. “I think they like the process of film from the outside.”
She later reinforced that view in a 2019 interview with Extra, explaining that while film is part of their world, it was never meant to define them.
“[Movies are] a part of their life. But it’s not important to them, and a center of their lives in a way that’s unhealthy. It’s all fun.”
Jolie has also suggested that music could shape Pax’s future path. “They are actually very interested in being musicians,” she told Woman’s Hour. “Pax loves music and deejaying.”
Family Roots and Jolie’s Life as a Mother
GettyPax was born in Vietnam on November 29, 2003, and spent his early years at the Tam Binh Orphanage outside Ho Chi Minh City.
He later joined a growing family that includes siblings Maddox, 24; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 19; and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline, 17.
When Pax first joined the family, Jolie described him as a “tough, remarkable little person” who was adapting well to his new life.
During a family visit to Vietnam in 2011, Jolie reflected on how cultural identity shaped their household.
“They are all learning about each other’s cultures as well as being proud of their own,” she told the Financial Times. “They all have their flags over their beds and their individual pride.”
Jolie, who finalized her divorce from Pitt in 2024, has continued to emphasize that her children remain at the heart of her life. “They are the closest people to me and my life, and they’re my close friends,” she told WSJ. Magazine in 2023. “We’re seven very different people, which is our strength.”
Pax’s rare red carpet appearance offered a quiet glimpse into the life of one of Hollywood’s most private celebrity children, stepping out briefly while continuing to chart a path largely away from the spotlight.
