Pete Davidson looks completely unrecognizable as he transforms for his latest role in the crime thriller, “Tommy Karate.” In the film, Davidson plays real-life mob enforcer Thomas “Tommy Karate” Pitera, and in new set photos, he looks so different that fans are left confused.

In the photos, Davidson has long dark hair, blue eyes, and prosthetics, which make him look very different from his usual appearance. Page Six shared on X, and fans have reacted. “He’s a shapeshifter? What’s happening?” a fan questioned. “Is he wearing prosthetics? I’m so confused,” another fan questioned.
Other reactions include, “Why does he look like that?”, “Genuinely shocked,” and “Has he always had blue eyes, or am I literally going insane?”
The photos were taken on the film set in Bay Ridge, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, People reports. The film is based on Philip Carlo’s 2009 book “The Butcher: Anatomy of a Mafia Psychopath” and stars Davidson, Camilla Mendes, Paul Walter Hauser, and Simon Rex.
Davidson also produced the film and co-wrote the screenplay with director Justin Chon and Joseph Gay, People reports. The actor and former “Saturday Night Live” star revealed his excitement about the project in an interview with Deadline. “Tommy Karate is the greatest mob story never told. I’ve been working on this for over three years, and I’m beyond thrilled that it’s finally in motion,” he said. “Playing a role like this is a dream job. We have a great team behind this one, and I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve come up with.”
Chon expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Together with Pete and the team, we’re reimagining the gangster genre through a contemporary lens—driven by character, fresh visuals, and real consequence. This isn’t nostalgia. It’s a reinvention.”

On July 23, Chon shared a first look of Davidson in character. He posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram and shared his thoughts in the caption. “Petey’z all growns up now,” he wrote. “Here’s Pete Davidson as mobster Tommy Karate. Was a long journey to get here but excited for everyone to see how talented he is. Thanks for letting me take the wheel. Love you brother!!!”
