Police Found Peter Greene Deceased in NYC Apartment After Welfare Check

TMZ reported that the discovery of Greene’s deceased body by police in his New York apartment on Friday was the result of a welfare check. Law enforcement was called after neighbors reported hearing loud music from inside Greene’s apartment which had been going on for “a few days.”

After Greene’s neighbors contacted building management, the report says police were contacted for a welfare check, and Greene’s door was opened by a locksmith. The report also says per TMZ’s sources, Greene was found in his living room.

Peter Greene’s Final Phone Call With Manager

Greene’s manager, Gregg Edwards, spoke to the New York Post about his final phone call with the actor, which took place on Wednesday, December 10, just two days before Greene’s body was discovered. According to the outlet, Edwards said they discussed the surgery Greene was scheduled to undergo to remove a benign tumor near his lung. He was supposed to have the operation the same day his body was found.

The Post quotes Edwards as telling them, “He sounded okay. It was just a totally normal conversation. He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn’t super serious.”

The report says Edwards also said his client mentioned the manager’s upcoming hernia surgery, and was “hoping that I was going to be okay and wishing me well as I was wishing him well,” before going on, “We’re good friends. I love the guy. We were friends for over a decade.” Edwards said of their chat, “That was the last time I talked to him,” per the report.

The Post says Christmas music began “pounding from behind Greene’s door” shortly after he and Edwards got off the phone.
