Alyssa Milano is embracing a new chapter in her life — without breast implants.
The actress, 52, revealed on Instagram on Wednesday, September 24, that she recently had the implants removed, calling it a personal decision rooted in self-acceptance and a desire to reclaim her body on her own terms.
In a heartfelt post, Milano reflected on the pressures she felt growing up in an industry that often sexualized women.
“Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me. I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized, that was abused, that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy,” she began. “And in doing so, I hope I am releasing my daughter Bella from ever feeling those same unhealthy demands.”
Milano Shared Who Inspired Her to Be Open About the Surgery
Milano credited Michelle Visage, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star, for inspiring her to take this step.
Visage has openly discussed removing her own implants due to health concerns, and Milano said learning about her friend’s experience helped her feel empowered to make the decision for herself.
Milano continued the lengthy post with a message of empowerment.
“Today I am loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful. None of that is because of my implants. I will still be all of those things when I wake up and they are gone,” she wrote.
The “Charmed” star expressed her joy with “letting go of what was never me in the first place.”
After surgery, she updated the post to let fans know how the surgery went.
“I’m cozy in my bed eating the food my mama made me. Thank you for all the kind words. I appreciate the support,” she noted.
Friends & Fans React
Many praised Milano for showing that true beauty and confidence come from embracing one’s authentic self rather than conforming to external expectations.
Visage was quick to show her love for her friend. “I’M THRILLED FOR YOU! The heal is real baby! See you on the lighter side,” she wrote.
Carnie Wilson shared that she previously had surgery as well to remove her implants.
The singer added, “I had mine removed in 2013 and I am so glad that I did it!!!!! Wishing you all the best you wonderful, beautiful human.”
One fan wrote, “I’m just so proud of you, thank you to be my inspiration, I really need you in my life. You don’t know how much I love you.”
