Inside Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Surprisingly Low-Key Wedding Plans

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are keeping their wedding plans low-key.

In a Page Six exclusive, the newly engaged couple does not intend to host a star-studded spectacle when they tie the knot. “It will be more casual than people think,” the insider said, explaining that the ceremony will be “private” and focused on family and close friends.

Swift and Kelce, announced their engagement August 26 with a joint Instagram post that read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.” The slideshow featured photos of Kelce proposing August 10 in the garden of his Leawood, Kansas, estate with an old mine brilliant-cut diamond ring co-designed with jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine, reportedly costing up to $1 million.

Kelce’s father, Ed, revealed his son asked Scott Swift for permission to propose about a month before. “They were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine’… They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” he told the outlet. Kelce’s mother, Donna, hinted at the news days before the announcement, describing her son as “a man on a mission” who “knows exactly what he wants.”

The couple, who began dating in summer 2023 and went public that September, reportedly kept their engagement private for weeks before sharing the news with fans.

Travis Kelce on Building a Lasting Partnership

Earlier this month, Kelce spoke with GQ about what he envisions in a marriage and how his parents’ divorce shaped his perspective. “They were always the ultimate partners in terms of being there for us as kids. There was no division in terms of anger at each other,” he said. “I think the romance of it all might’ve just kind of faded, being so focused on their careers and raising a family.”

The NFL star emphasized that keeping romance alive will be central to his own relationship. “The handful of my friends whose parents are still together and still thriving—those are situations I would love to have,” he told the magazine. “If we’re gonna start this and do it, why not try and do it to last forever? Not just in a ‘It’s just for the kids’ aspect.”

Kelce also highlighted the traits Swift shares with his mother, Donna, including “kindness, genuineness, and their ability to show love and support no matter what.” He added that he and Swift share core values that make their bond strong: “When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values.”

Timing Their Future Together

Taylor Swift celebrates with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs after defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game on January 26, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kelce previously hinted at when a wedding could take place, citing the NFL calendar as a major factor. On a January episode of his “New Heights” podcast, he said, “I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer… maybe it’s in her best interest to not have it in the fall so that she knows you’re invested in the anniversary every time it comes around.”

With Swift releasing her new album “The Life of a Showgirl” this fall and Kelce entering his 13th NFL season, their schedules suggest a spring or summer 2026 wedding may be most likely. But whether in the spotlight or behind closed doors, both appear committed to keeping their relationship strong and lasting.
