WATCH: Tom Hanks Proudly Cheers On Son Chet Hanks at Stagecoach in Sweet Moment

Tom Hanks is proving that no matter how iconic your career is, being a proud parent still takes center stage.

The two-time Oscar winner, 69, was spotted fully embracing dad mode at the Stagecoach Music Festival on Saturday, April 25, where he showed up to support his son Chet Hanks and his band, Something Out West.

The Festivalgoer Dished on Capturing the Sweet Moment

In a now-viral video captured by festivalgoer Keren Ashri, Hanks can be seen singing along and soaking in the performance inside the Toyota Music Den as the group played their track “You Better Run.”

The clip quickly caught attention online—not just for the music, but for the heartwarming reveal that one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars was casually standing in the crowd.

Ashri shared the moment on Instagram, writing, “Woody!!! The day I met my idol,” referencing Hanks’ famous role in “Toy Story.”

The video pans from the stage to Hanks nearby, with text overlay reading, “watching chet hanks then realizing his dad is next to me.”

“10 minutes into the show, I noticed him and freaked out honestly,” she told PEOPLE after the video went viral. “I couldn’t believe he was standing right there next to me! He was enjoying watching his son.”

The moment captured a refreshingly low-key side of Hanks, who opted for a relaxed festival look—blue jeans, a tan jacket and a hat—blending into the crowd while cheering on his son.

Ashri even worked up the courage to introduce herself after the set.

“I finally gathered the courage and went to introduce myself and said I’m a huge fan, and he was very kind and gracious,” she shared. “A few more members in the crowd noticed him after the show was over, and he was very gracious to take a few pictures with the fans.”

Chet Previously Releases a Music Video Inspired for ‘Forrest Gump’

Chet’s band, Something Out West—made up of the 35-year-old and bandmate Drew Arthur—has been gaining attention, especially after their creative 2025 music video for “You Better Run.”

The video cleverly pays tribute to Hanks’ Oscar-winning film “Forrest Gump,” featuring scenes like a bench with a box of chocolates and a shrimp boat named Jenny.

In a full-circle moment, Tom even appears alongside his son in the clip.

Chet, who also stars in the Netflix series “Running Point,” is the son of Hanks and Rita Wilson, who have long supported his creative pursuits.

Fans Couldn’t Get Enough of the Sweet Moment

Fans were quick to react to the candid Stagecoach moment, praising both the performance and Hanks’ down-to-earth presence.

“Wow.. that’s awesome!!!! And he’s vibing like only a dad can do!!!” one person wrote.

“Omg he looks so proud,” another added, while a third noted, “What’s cool is nobody bothering him. Just letting him enjoy his son.”

Others echoed a similar sentiment, celebrating the rare glimpse of a Hollywood legend simply enjoying a personal moment. “Humble… just a proud dad,” one fan commented.
