The “Girls Trip” Star Has Opened Up About Her Relationship With Smith

However, Smith stated, “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.” Smith continued, “I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
At the time, Smith said they were “still trying to figure out, between the two of us, how to be in partnership.” The actress went on to say that they’d made a promise never to divorce and that they would “work through … whatever.”
