Caroline Manzo is sharing a rare glimpse into where things stand with her younger sister, Dina Manzo.
The former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star has largely kept the details of their complicated relationship private over the years. During a recent appearance on the “Legally Goff” podcast, however, Caroline opened up about her sister and admitted that while they continue to live separate lives, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss her.
Caroline first made it clear that she wasn’t interested in revisiting every detail of what happened between them.
“They don’t know all about it. They only assume, and you know, it all gets lost in translation,” Caroline said of the public speculation surrounding their relationship. “I’m a very private person, and that’s something I’ve never spoken about … and I have no intention of speaking about it.”
Still, she was willing to share how she feels about Dina today.
Caroline Manzo Opens Up About Where She Stands With Dina
Caroline acknowledged that she and Dina are “two very different people” and suggested that keeping their distance is what works for them at this point in their lives.
“I don’t know the ‘whys’ of things, and we’re two very different people. She needs to preserve her sanity, and I need to preserve mine,” Caroline said. “And just because you have a sibling doesn’t mean that you’re bonded together for life. Sometimes we’re just very different people.”
Caroline said she believes the sisters can each move forward peacefully on their own.
“Go live your life in peace, and I’ll live my life in peace, and that’s it,” she said.
But Caroline also admitted that accepting the reality of their relationship hasn’t necessarily been easy.
“It doesn’t make me happy. But it’s the reality of things, so you just deal with it and move on,” she added.
Caroline Manzo Admits She Misses Her Younger Sister
When asked directly whether she misses Dina, Caroline didn’t hesitate to acknowledge the bond and history they still share.
“I miss certain things about her … [But] there’s a lot of hurt there, on both of our parts. A lot of hurt,” Caroline explained. “But of course you have a history with somebody. She’s my baby sister. Of course I miss her.”
Caroline continued by acknowledging that the feelings surrounding their relationship aren’t one-sided.
“There’s a lot of things I miss about her, and there’s a lot of things that, you know, we’ve hurt each other,” she said. “It’s reciprocal. It’s life.”
Caroline and Dina were both part of the original cast of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” when the Bravo series premiered in 2009. Dina ultimately left the show during Season 2 before returning for Season 6, while Caroline departed after Season 5.
Although their relationship has generated plenty of public interest in the years since, Caroline’s latest comments offer something she rarely has: her own perspective on where the sisters stand today.
For now, she seems to have made peace with allowing both of them to live their lives separately, even if she still misses the sister she once shared so much with.
