Emily Simpson Keeps ‘RHOC’ Cast Guessing With Lie Detector Twist

Emily Simpson’s Persian New Year celebration on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” turned into one of the most talked-about moments of Season 19 after she surprised her castmates with unexpected guests — polygraph examiners.

During the Aug. 28 episode, Simpson invited Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Katie Ginella, Tamra Judge, Gina Kirschenheiter, Jennifer Pedranti, and friend Gretchen Rossi to what she described as a lighthearted activity.

Katie Ginella Struggles With Lie Detector Test

At first, the women believed they were simply writing down anonymous “burning questions” for one another. But Simpson soon revealed her true plan: each of them would undergo a lie detector test.

The twist proved particularly difficult for Katie Ginella, who admitted she was overwhelmed by anxiety. At one point, the examiner was overheard making a private remark: “She’s so full of s–t.”

After the group reconvened, the examiner revealed that Ginella not only failed her test but “did the worst out of everybody.” She specifically struggled with questions regarding Gretchen Rossi.

Even so, Ginella maintained her innocence. “I told the truth. I didn’t lie,” she insisted when confronted by the group. The denial did little to convince her castmates, and Simpson ultimately asked her to leave the party.

Ginella Defends Herself on the After Show

Ginella continued to defend herself both on the episode and during “The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show.” She argued that the results were not valid, citing the stressful setting and the fact that she forgot to take her anti-anxiety medication before attending the party.

“I was anxious, not only to be in this group of women, but then sit in Emily’s closet and do a random non-certified polygraphy test,” Ginella explained. “Not in a controlled environment; in her closet.”

Despite the failed results, Ginella insisted she had no reason to lie. “I had nothing to gain from lying… I didn’t do anything. Why would I self-implode like that? There’s literally no reason.”

Gretchen Rossi’s Results Raise More Questions

While Ginella was left defending her reputation, Gretchen Rossi received an entirely “truthful” result. Ginella expressed doubt, claiming that Rossi had repeated rumors about Tamra Judge during a dinner with Pedranti, her husband Matt Ginella, Slade Smiley, and Ryan Boyajian.

“And that’s why, in that moment I pointed to Jenn and was like, ‘Jenn, you know she said that,’” Ginella said on the After Show. “We had just talked like the month before on the phone about it, with Ryan and Slade on the phone. How do you not remember this?”

Although the Bravo star voiced disappointment that Pedranti did not back her up, she still referred to her as “a very kind person.” She theorized that Pedranti stayed quiet because she wanted to avoid getting caught in the conflict.

“The most disappointing part of this whole thing is I don’t know why Jenn won’t just say, ‘I heard it, too,’” Ginella said. “I cried for weeks about this. Why would you wanna see me get annihilated?”

Ginella closed her comments with a firm denial: “Why would I self-implode like that? There’s literally no reason.”

The moment has already become one of the standout storylines of “RHOC” Season 19, ensuring that Emily Simpson’s Persian New Year party will be remembered long after the lie detector buzz fades.
