Jen Shah is opening up about a quiet, personal moment following a devastating loss.
In her first interview since being released from prison, the former The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star revealed to People that she reached out privately to former co-star Mary Cosby after the death of her son, Robert Cosby Jr.
A Private Gesture During a Difficult Time
Shah explained that she chose to contact Cosby directly rather than making any kind of public statement.
“I did reach out to Mary. I privately reached out to Mary because I felt like that was the respectful thing to do,” Shah said. “I sent her a card, you know, and just told her how deeply sorry that I was to hear about the passing of Robert Jr.”
She added that the gesture was intentional in its privacy.
“I didn’t want it to become about me responding. I wanted it to remain about what Mary was going through and about her son and honoring his memory.”
‘She’s in My Family’s Prayers Every Day’
Shah also shared that Cosby remains top of mind for her and her family as she processes the news.
“She’s in my family’s prayers every day,” she said.
The moment marks a rare point of connection between the two former castmates, who have had a complicated relationship throughout their time on the show.
A Tragic Loss for Mary Cosby
News of Robert Cosby Jr.’s death was confirmed in February. He was 23 years old.
In a statement shared at the time, Cosby said, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace.”
His struggles with addiction had previously been documented on “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” with viewers noting Cosby’s openness about her son’s journey.
Where Jen Shah Stands Now
Shah’s comments come as she begins to re-emerge publicly following her release from federal prison in December 2025.
She had been serving time for her role in a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme, and in her recent interview, acknowledged the impact of her actions while also signaling a desire to move forward.
“The people were actual victims as a result of this conspiracy. I had never seen anything with my own eyes. That changed things for me,” Shah said. “I’m sorry. I’m accepting responsibility, and I’ve made it my mission to make sure that people are paid back.”
A Complicated History — and a Private Moment
While Shah’s relationships with many of her former co-stars remain complicated, her decision to reach out to Cosby stood apart — a private gesture made during an intensely difficult time.
