Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker Split: A Look Back at Their Relationship

Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker are officially going their separate ways after 11 years of marriage, marking the end of one of Bravo’s most enduring relationships. The former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star confirmed the split in a statement to People, sharing that the decision was emotional but necessary as she enters a new phase of life. Burruss and Tucker balanced parenting, business ventures, and television projects for more than a decade, making their divorce a surprise to many longtime fans.

“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” Burruss said. “My focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.” She added that she is “stepping into a new chapter” centered on work, family, and growth.

Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s Marriage, Challenges, and Family Life

Burruss, 49, and Tucker, 52, met in 2011 while filming season 4 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” where Tucker was a producer. “I was trying to play it cool in Africa as it’s against the rules to cross the line with the talent,” Tucker told The Daily Dish. He admitted he was drawn in immediately, saying, “I loved her smile… She seemed very humble and genuine.”

Tucker proposed on January 1, 2013 after hiding the ring for months before popping the question during a New Year’s celebration at their Atlanta home. Burruss later joked that she once believed she belonged to the “Forever Single Club,” but said the relationship changed everything. The couple married in April 2014 in a Coming to America-themed ceremony featured on the Bravo special “Kandi’s Wedding.”

Together, they built a blended family that includes son Ace and daughter Blaze, along with Burruss’ daughter Riley and Tucker’s daughter Kaela.

They also launched multiple business ventures, including the Old Lady Gang restaurant brand, and collaborated professionally as producers—most notably on the Broadway revival of “Othello” starring Denzel Washington.

Burruss acknowledged in past interviews that the biggest strain in their marriage came from conflicts involving her mother, Joyce. “That BravoCon last year set it off in my household,” she said in 2023. She explained that Tucker and her mother stopped speaking for months, before eventually repairing their communication.

Recent Clues and What Comes Next For the Former RHOA Stars

While the breakup announcement surprised many, there were subtle signs. Reports noted that Burruss stopped wearing her wedding ring, removed Tucker’s last name from her social media profile, and attended BravoCon 2025 without him—even when she received the Wifetime Achievement Award and publicly thanked him onstage.

According to TMZ, Burruss is currently living and working in New York City, where daughter Riley films “Next Gen NYC,” while Tucker remains in Atlanta with their younger children.

Despite the split, Burruss insisted earlier this year that the couple had always found ways to stay connected. “We support each other’s dreams, and we push each other,” she told People in February. “We always have fun. We have us that good old time.”

No details regarding divorce proceedings, custody arrangements, or future collaborations have been announced.
