Real Housewife Bravely Opens Up About Husband’s Cancer Journey

Margaret Josephs is embracing a season of gratitude as she reflects on her husband Joe Benigno’s health journey. More than two years after Joe was diagnosed with a prostate tumor, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star says her husband is thriving — and she couldn’t be more thankful for where he is today.

Margaret Josephs Shares Update on Husband Joe Benigno’s Diagnosis

The longtime Bravo personality spoke with The Daily Dish at BravoCon 2025, sharing that Joe continues to feel strong and stable following his 2023 prostate cancer diagnosis.

“Joe’s feeling great. His cancer has not changed. Not advanced at all,” Margaret confirmed. “So, he gets checked regularly. He’s feeling great. He just had a very big birthday. He just turned 70 the day before we left for BravoCon. Do you believe he’s 70? He looks unbelievable… BravoCon is his birthday party.”

Joe’s diagnosis was first explored on Season 14 of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” where viewers learned he had elevated PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels. Doctors later confirmed the presence of a cancerous prostate tumor, leading to discussions about whether Joe should undergo surgery or radiation. After consulting with specialists, Joe ultimately opted for active monitoring rather than immediate treatment.

Margaret previously opened up about that decision during her August 2024 appearance on the “Taste of Taylor” podcast, explaining why Joe chose to live with the tumor rather than remove it.

“A lot of people are like, ‘Just get it out,’ [but] the treatment’s much worse,” she said. “If you get it out, you do have other issues… It is extremely curable but with a lot of side effects.”

According to Margaret, Joe continues to undergo routine checkups to ensure there are no changes.

“They said it might not grow for 10 years, so they just check him every few months,” she said.

Inside Margaret Josephs’ Joyful Family News & Growing Business Empire

The couple’s uplifting health news isn’t the only reason they’ve been celebrating. Margaret shared that 2025 has been filled with meaningful family milestones, including the arrival of a new baby in their extended family.

“My oldest stepson just had a baby,” she told The Daily Dish. “It’s amazing. So happy. Cutest little baby. Brought a lot of joy to the family. Everything’s great. We’ve been very blessed.”

The proud “glamma” said the new arrival has brought even more happiness into their lives, especially as Joe continues to maintain strong health and spirits.

In addition to family life, the Bravo star remains focused on her thriving business ventures. She confirmed she is continuing to grow her Candie Couture cosmetics line and is preparing for the return of Soirée, the drink company she co-founded with her longtime friend and creative director, Lexi Barbuto.

“You know, listen, Soirée is what we’re hustling for,” she said. “We’re coming out with a new flavor, a coffee flavor. We’re just really hustling for that… So we have a lot of things happening.”
