Teddi Mellencamp has some pretty special relationships in her life. For instance, along with saying that her father, John Mellencamp, basically saved her life, she also has a sweet bond with her “miracle baby” daughter. Now, as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum battles cancer, she’s opened up about the fact that there’s another relationship in her life thanks to the fact that she’s dating a certain someone.
Teddi Says She’s ‘Taking It Slow’ with Her Mystery Man
GettyTeddi, “who was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 that later metastasized to her lungs and brain, has been pursuing a new romance with a mystery older man,” according to The Daily Mail. “The star recently went on her 10th date with the man, whose college-aged children still live in his house…”
“We’re going to call him Derek,” Teddi said during a episode of her “Two Ts in a Podcast” on Wednesday, April 8, while choosing to keep the indentity of the man she’s dating relatively under wraps.
She also discussed a little issue with their relationship that’s crops up “when you’re dating and you’re both parents.” She asked, “Like, how are you ever supposed to get past first base? I have kids in my house. He has kids in his house.”
“These are the things that I haven’t brought up on these dates,” she added. “I’m taking it slow with him. Normally that hasn’t been my past.”
Teddi Talked About How Her Date ‘Deal[s] with the Cancer’
During the “Two Ts in a Podcast” episode, Teddi was asked by her co-host Tamra Judge, “How does he deal with the cancer?”
“He’s pretty good about it. He’s a relatively positive and logical person in general. He’s older than I am,” Teddi said. “But the thing that I like the most about him is he makes me laugh.”
The Daily Mail notes that “the Bravo-lebrity and her silver fox had an early dinner date at WeHo hotspot Craig’s and then he asked if she wanted to stop by a speakeasy nearby or if she was ‘too tired from her immunotherapy’ for her stage IV cancer battle.”
Teddi recalled, “I was like, ‘I actually have enough energy right now.'” However, she also admitted, “Then I woke up this morning and I felt like hell.”
When the podcast posted about the episode on Instagram, it prompted plenty of comments from followers, with one person writing, “I met my boyfriend during my cancer treatment. Best thing ever.”

That’s such a brave and beautiful thing she’s doing, navigating such a difficult time with such openness. It’s wonderful she’s finding joy and connection too.
