Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Hadid was incredibly close to her mother, Ans van den Herik. Herik died from cancer in 2019, and her loss has been felt deeply.
Yolanda Hadid Shares Her Thoughts on Her Mother’s Passing
Hadid reflected on the death of her mother and the immense grief that she feels in an Instagram post on August 30. She posted a throwback photo of her mom from her younger days, and Ans bears a striking resemblance to Hadid’s daughter, Gigi Hadid.
In the caption, the former reality TV star shared her thoughts, writing, “We got it all from my mamma….. Loosing her has been the greatest loss in my life, 6 years have passed but it does not get easier. An empty spot that can’t be filled by anyone…..”
It’s a heartbreaking post, but Hadid’s fans have rallied around her to show her support and love. “Never gets easier but Im sure she had the best life with the best family,” a comment reads. “She was beautiful,” another person shared.
Fans have also shared their own stories about loss and grief, as a reminder to Hadid that she is not alone. The comments also offer solidarity. “After my mom passed 5 years ago, I realized that I didn’t only lose my mom, I also lost my best friend, my confidant, my non-judgmental ear, the only person who wants nothing but the best for me,” a fan shared.
Another person wrote, “I feel your pain. I lost my beautiful mother 4 years ago during COVID.”
Hadid’s brother, Leo van den Herik’s daughter, Joann, also reacted to the post, writing, “our angel protecting us forever.” She added several white heart emojis to her comment.
Yolanda Hadid’s Beloved Mother Is Missed
This is not the first time Hadid has spoken about her mother’s death. She has been incredibly vulnerable with her followers, and when Ans died, Hadid made an Instagram post on August 31, 2019, reflecting on the incredible impact she had on her life.
She shared several throwback photos and penned her thoughts in the caption. “Thank you for loving me the way the way that you did and for making me the woman that I am today,” she wrote.
She continued, “On angel wings you were taken away, but in my heart you will always stay….. I can not imagine this life without you but I pray that I will hear you whisper in the tallest trees and feel your love in the gentle breeze… When I miss you the most, our beautiful memories will hold you close… Our Love is eternal and you will always be with me and i will always be with you beyond the bounds of this realm.”
Van den Herik’s granddaughter, model Gigi Hadid, also penned a heartfelt message on Instagram after her passing. She expressed her love for her grandmother and informed fans that she had “fought cancer six times in her life with courage, strength, and grace while being the greatest mother and grandmother.”
