Soaps are saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall, and “General Hospital” is no exception. Co-head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten have teased what fans can expect as the seasons change, and it’s good!
“Unexpected arrivals, unexpected romance and unexpected connections. Secrets are going to be exposed that will upend lives for better and worse — and new secrets will need to be kept. Relationships of all kinds will be jumbled as families grow in surprising ways; friends and enemies will reverse roles; and some current romances may give way to new romances,” Etten and Korte expressed to TV Insider.
New and Doomed Romances
The burgeoning teen romance of Rocco (Finn Carr and Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) heats up. Korte and Etten compare them to Romeo and Juliet because of the war brewing between Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Drew (Cameron Mathison). They also hinted at drastic consequences for the smitten teens.
Speaking of Sonny, his secret relationship with Justine (Nazneen Contractor) will be tested as his mob past comes back to haunt him. Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Jason (Steve Burton) face a difficult future when the things she did for Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) become too much for him.
Another couple headed for crisis is Carly (Laura Wright) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). The latter’s desire to help Anna (Finola Hughes) and his true feelings for her may prove too much for Carly.
Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) deal with the fallout of her lying to him about the accident. Chase’s trust issues with Brook Lynn and the fragile state of their marriage put their future with Phoebe (Lucia & Luna Creighton) in serious jeopardy.
Sparks continue to fly between Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). They will grow closer in ways they never imagined, and it will eat away at Ric (Rick Hearst). Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Michael (Rory Gibson) develop a close bond working together at Aurora, while Curtis (Donnell Turner) sits in prison.
Finally, romance is on the horizon for Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn). “ A past romance will rear its head in a surprising way,” Korte and Etten expressed.
Mystery, Stalker, Feuds, and a Bloody Mess
Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) hatred of Sonny ramps up amid her new WSB orders and CEO job at JJE. She goes to great lengths to take something precious from Sonny, and it will cost her. Josslyn’s actions not only divide her family but also lead to a bloody mess as she ignores the target she has become in her new jobs.
The aftermath of Jack’s (Chris McKenna) disappearance lands Nina (Cynthia Watros) in the hot seat thanks to Drew planting evidence against her. Nina didn’t kill him, but that won’t stop her from being a suspect as the mystery surrounding how he really died unfolds.
Meanwhile, Ava (Maura West) and Drew are determined to destroy Sonny. It’s what has bonded them, along with their disposing of Jack’s dead body, which they are desperate to keep a secret. “Their unholy alliance will have repercussions across the canvas for years to come,” hinted the “General Hospital” co-head writers.
Sonny doesn’t just have Josslyn, Ava, and Drew coming for him. Leaving his mob past in the rearview won’t be as easy as he expected, and Sonny will be forced to make a shocking decision.
The Quartermaine family goes all out to protect their own. Michael and Tracy (Jane Elliot) team up to crush Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) to get her away from Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sienna Goerisch) permanently. Tracy also takes drastic measures to protect Brook Lynn amid the fallout from the car accident.
Life in prison with Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) as a cellmate proves more troubling than Curtis could have ever imagined. The two men fight to stay alive as their enemies waste no time looking for payback.
On the outside, a blast from Jordan’s past comes back to haunt her. “General Hospital” fans learn more about who Jordan was before she came to Port Charles and even before her time in the DEA.
Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) stalker storyline comes to a head, but not in a way fans might think. Etten and Korte tease that the person may be someone fans know and may not even be a stalker. One thing is certain. Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) will do anything to protect Trina as the hint of danger grows, and it could cost him his life. Will the ABC soap really kill off another of Trina’s boyfriends?
