Last spring, there were rumblings that Kelly Thiebaud might be on her way back to “General Hospital,” and fans were absolutely thrilled to see her return as Britt Westbourne in the summer of 2025. The sometimes villainous daughter of Cesar Faison and Liesl Obrecht seemed to die a hero at the beginning of 2023, but in true soap fashion, she has indeed emerged alive.
The actress is back in Los Angeles after a stint in London, and she recently shared all of the details with Woman’s World.
Kelly Thiebaud Is Back in Port Charles
ABCBritt Westbourne may have been off the GH canvas for a few years, but the fans were rallying for her return. “I was getting messages on my social media about how much people missed the character. The last time I was on the show, we were creating this different version of Britt. And it wasn’t just me—it was the writing and a real team effort to give her this redemption, and then the Huntington’s disease. It was so beautiful. I got so much love from the GH fans, and I think we grew closer during that whole experience.”
“The majority of people have just been so welcoming and happy to have me back, so it’s just been a wonderful, full-circle experience. I feel very lucky,” says the actress.
Kelly was also very clear about her willingness to return to the popular soap. “I knew if I did come back, I didn’t want to play Britt’s evil twin or another character, I wanted it to be Britt, and initially, I didn’t think that that was going to be possible—because we did choose to kill her off! I was also kind of afraid to open that door again. Will the magic still be there?”
Britt and Jason, Take Two
ABCBritt and Jason were inching towards a full-blown romance when Steve Burton left GH in 2021. Kelly says that she and Steve discussed the possibilities for their characters now, before returning.
“Steve and I had a wonderful conversation, and we both felt like there was a lot of unfinished business we wanted to explore. We gave viewers something that started to become interesting, exciting, and maybe romantic… and then it got taken away from everyone. We want to give that back to them.”
She continues, “There was so much growth for a romantic relationship there, and Britt’s never had that. I don’t specifically remember the moment, but there was a shift in the writing and in just Steve and I, working off of each other. There seemed to be a lot of chemistry, and I had so much fun with him between takes. With all of those elements coming together, I was really in support of those two characters going the long haul.”
Now, four years later, Britt and Jason have finally reunited onscreen, and Kelly couldn’t be more excited. “The first day I saw Steve on set, we gave each other a huge hug, and I felt at that moment, ‘This is going to be a really fun ride. But who knows if we will go on this ride together?”
How do you feel about Britt’s return? Are you here for a Jason and Britt romance this time around?
