Jeff Probst Reveals His Ideal Celebrity ‘Survivor’ Player

Let’s be real: celebrity reality TV crossovers always feel like that one big what‑if we’re all lowkey into. And while other shows (i.e. “Big Brother,” “The Traitors,” “The Apprentice,” “Worst Cooks In America,” etc.) have dipped into celeb competition versions, “Survivor” has famously stayed out of that lane… at least officially. But hearing Jeff Probst casually name Adam Scott as his ideal celeb player? Yep, you read that right.

At “PaleyLive’s: The Tribe Has Spoken” event on March 10, Probst told E! News that if he could drop one famous face into “Survivor,” it would be the “Severance” star. Why? Straight-up respect for his smarts and genuine fandom. Which… honestly, it seems like the perfect combo for this game.

Adam Scott: A Fan With the Right Stuff

Probst didn’t just throw a name out there on a whim… he made it clear there’s real admiration behind it. “Adam Scott,” he said when asked which celebrity he thinks could make it to Sole Survivor. “We text a lot about the show. He’s so clever.”

Then he added something that really sells the idea: “I know he’s got a big career, but I would love to watch him play because I think he’d do really well.” Yep, Probst isn’t picking a walk-on star or a splashy name for buzz. He’s imagining someone who could actually compete: socially, strategically, intellectually. And that’s exactly what fans want too.

If you’re like any “Survivor” junkie who’s watched every tribal council, puzzle, and alliance breakdown for years, you know the game isn’t just physical. Read the room, build relationships, and navigate social twists? That’s the real secret sauce… and Probst clearly believes Scott could hack it.

A Survivor Fan Who Could Play the Game

Here’s where it gets even more fun: Scott isn’t just a name Probst picked out of thin air. He’s a known “Survivor” fan; and has been for years.

One Reddit user who started bingeing the series posted, “I spotted a wild Adam Scott in the audience of the Season 22 finale.” Other fans chimed in to confirm, with comments like, “Yeah Adam Scott is a big Survivor fan! He was at the finale for HHH as well taking photos with some of the cast. I think he brought a couple friends (maybe a couple people from Parks and Rec? Can’t remember),” and, “He’s been to a couple! Here he is at S35.”

It seems like Scott is genuine when it comes to the show, and that makes Probst’s choice feel even more exciting. This isn’t just a celebrity name for ratings; it’s someone who actually knows the game and would probably play smart.

Could a Celebrity Season Actually Happen?

So far, “Survivor” hasn’t announced a celebrity edition. But with Season 50 underway and Probst openly talking about celebs who could play, maybe the idea isn’t off the table. If a season ever happens, having someone like Scott (clever, socially aware, and genuinely into the show) could make it a must-watch.

Fans have already been imagining the possibilities. One person on a Reddit thread suggested, “I would support a lesser version of this, like a ‘social media/youtuber’ season. People who aren’t exactly FAMOUS but they have a fair amount of followers.”

Another pitched a crossover idea:

And a third said, “Maybe not celebrities but I’d love to see some reality competition cross over with some of The Challenge people.”

For now, it’s fun to imagine: Adam Scott navigating alliances, solving puzzles, and trying not to get blindsided while Jeff Probst gleefully watches it all unfold. Whether or not this dream matchup happens on-screen, the vibe is clear; “Survivor” is still keeping us excited and guessing, 50 seasons in.

“Survivor” Season 50 airs Wednesdays at 8:00pm ET on CBS, streaming next day on Paramount+.
