‘Survivor’ Mike White Hopes to Form ‘White Lotus’ Alliance on Season 50

Mike White, who originally appeared on the cast of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” in 2018, is set to return alongside his former co-stars Angelina Keeley and Christian Hubicki on the record-breaking cast of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” later this month.

While White wrapped up the installment with a respectable second-place finish to “Sole Survivor” Nick Wilson, his career on the long-running reality competition series was quickly overshadowed by the premiere of his Emmy-winning HBO comedy drama anthology series “The White Lotus” in 2021.

Having previously worked on films like “School of Rock” and “Nacho Libre,” White rocketed to a new level of stardom after he penned the hit series, which has since featured stars like Patrick Schwarzenegger, Theo James, Jennifer Coolidge, and Walter Goggins, as well as a number of cameos from White’s former “Survivor” co-stars, including both Angelina and Christian.

Now, as the premiere of Season 50 draws ever-closer, Mike’s opening up about his hopes to reunite with his former allies on the beaches of Fiji to once again secure a seat at Final Tribal Council.

Speaking with People in the days before Season 50’s filming began, White reported that he’s hopeful his “David vs. Goliath” co-stars will “want to play with me.”

While his relationship with fellow finalist Angelina Keeley is all-but a shoo-in, given their tight-knit alliance on their original season, White’s position with Christian Hubicki is a bit more precarious.

“I did vote Christian out,” White admitted, but revealed that he’s stayed friends with the robotics professor outside of the game, even offering Hubicki a cameo in Season 3 of “The White Lotus.”

“There’s your ‘Survivor’ relationship, and then there’s your out of game relationship,” White argued, hoping to capitalize on the latter to keep Christian on his good side for the duration of the milestone season.

Despite his intentions to maintain a tight three-person alliance with his “David vs. Goliath” co-stars, however, White confirmed he’ll be focused on making it to the end of the competition, no matter what it takes.

“I want to play with [Christian and Angelina], but I’m not going down with that ship,” he argued. “I am going to play my own game.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, White addressed how he plans to handle any Season 50 castmates who might try to ally themselves with him in hopes of landing their own cameo on a future season of “The White Lotus.”

“Did I tell you I changed my number?” he joked, adding, “I mean, I really value the friendships that I made out of the show, but sometimes I do feel like there’s a lot of reality contestants in my life.”

While not an outright bar on casting his Season 50 co-stars on a future installment of the anthology series, the statement doesn’t bode particularly well for anyone who might be trying to cozy up to the Emmy-winning screenwriter in hopes of seeing themselves on HBO.

Fans of “Survivor” and “The White Lotus” can catch Mike White and the rest of the milestone season’s record-breaking cast storm the beaches of Fiji once more during the highly-anticipated premiere of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” on Wednesday, February 25 at 8:00pm ET, exclusively on CBS.
