Gracie Abrams has spoken out about the alleged feud she’s been having with Taylor Swift, putting the rumors to bed once and for all. The “That’s So True” singer, 26, chatted on the most recent episode of ‘Therapuss with Jane Shane’ where she shared nothing but glowing words and admiration towards Taylor.
What Did Gracie Say?
GettyRumors that Taylor and Gracie have been feuding started when Gracie first sang the song “Death Wish” from her newest album ‘Daughter From Hell’. The track sings of the end something great and about a person stabbing someone in the back, which fans quickly began to speculate could somehow be about Taylor. Producer Aaron Dessner later clarified to Billboard that the song was definitely not about Taylor and instead referred to the dynamic of a toxic friendship. Rumors of the feud continued to blossom when Gracie was spotted following Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, on Instagram, and she shared a snap of her dress from Taylor and Travis Kelce’s wedding in the same Instagram carousel post as a photo of Joe starring in a film.
But now Gracie has chimed in to clear up any rumors of bad blood. Speaking about the incredible experience Taylor creates when performing to her fans, Gracie gushed: “You get to watch this titan of the industry, top down, make the experience for every single person who ever attended, every single person who works to make it happen, the best version of the experience that it could be.
“I learned on a personal level that the show always goes on no matter what. You would never know if she was sick. You would never know if her heart was aching; she’s just giving it everything and doing it with grace and warmth.”
Gracie further added that Taylor is “just this fiercely brilliant, singular kind of alien. But she’s a person.”
Taylor and Gracie’s Friendship
Taylor and Gracie first became friends in late 2021 to 2022 when Taylor invited Gracie to a birthday party. But it wasn’t until Gracie performed as one of the opening acts on the record-breaking Eras Tour that their friendship more prominently entered the public eye. Later on in 2024 Taylor and Gracie collaborated on a track together called “Us” which featured on Gracie’s hugely successful album “The Secret of Us”.
Though before the duo ever became pals, Gracie already described herself as a self-proclaimed Swiftie. In a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, Gracie shared her love of Taylor’s music. She said: “Every formative memory in my life is paired with a Taylor Swift song that helped me get through. My boyfriend the other day did the thing where we shuffled her discography and played a song for one second. … I got them all.”
Gracie also heavily gushed about her time with Taylor on the Eras Tour while speaking with Variety in 2023. The singer shared: “[It was] the best experience of my life. To have that become a part of my weekly routine for four months straight has bled into kind of all ways of my life, not just how joyful I feel internally, but the songs that we’ve been making.”
