Travis Kelce is proudly standing by his now-viral beer-chugging moment — and according to him, there was nothing sloppy about it.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end addressed the internet-breaking moment during the Wednesday, May 27 episode of the “New Heights” podcast alongside older brother Jason Kelce, after footage of him downing a beer courtside with fiancée Taylor Swift took social media by storm.
The Hilarious Exchange
The playful exchange began with Jason poking fun at his younger brother for chugging a beer in front of thousands of fans during the May 23 NBA playoff matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.
“You [expletive] classless. You’re a role model, Travis!” Jason joked. “You cannot be out there chugging beers in public!”
But Travis wasted no time defending himself — and the technique behind his performance.
“It was a classy chug, Jason! I didn’t spill one drop,” Travis fired back. “I didn’t crush the can. I’m on the hardwood floor at an NBA game. It could have got messy. It was a smooth, classy chug to get the people going.”
The viral moment unfolded while Kelce and Swift sat courtside at Madison Square Garden.
When the NFL star appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd erupted — and Kelce responded by quickly chugging his beer, sending fans into a frenzy.
Jason ultimately admitted his brother may have had a point, especially after reviewing the footage during the podcast episode.
“It was an elegant chug. It wasn’t too much energy. It was just the right amount and it was smooth. Just like everything you do. You are a smooth athlete,” Jason quipped. “Not even touching the lips, no form of panic. You didn’t even panic when the foam started coming out. You knew there was a chance it was gonna get a little a little messy. Pinkie was up!”
Travis laughed along as he explained his reasoning behind the now-famous moment.
“We’re doing [expletive] 10 points, trying to get some type of energy going in the building,” he said.

While Kelce’s beer chug immediately became a trending topic online, Swift’s reaction may have gotten just as much attention.
In clips shared across social media, the pop superstar could be seen laughing from her courtside seat beside Kelce.
Swift covered her mouth as she reacted to her fiancé’s antics before joining fans in cheering him on.
The moment quickly sparked a flood of fan commentary online, with many praising both Kelce’s confidence and Swift’s reaction.
“I just know Taylor looked at that situation and said, “Yep… that’s my man. I’m gonna stick beside him,”” one fan joked.
