For moms, few moments are bigger than seeing their children find happiness. Donna Kelce celebrated her son Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift with a heartfelt online tribute.

The Love Only Moms Can Show
The side-by-side shots showed Swift leaning against a prop tree in a school portrait while a young Travis posed in a flannel shirt against a blue backdrop.
A Proud Mom’s Early Hints
Even before the big announcement, Donna had hinted at the happiness in her son’s life. Speaking to People in an interview published August 25, she shared, “I think his mind is settled. That’s about all I can tell you. I think he feels calm and he feels like he’s on a mission and he knows exactly what he wants.”
At the time, her ex-husband Ed Kelce had already confirmed that Travis had proposed earlier in August. As he told ABC Cleveland, “Travis actually did the proposal maybe two weeks—not quite two weeks ago.”
Why Travis Proposed Sooner Than Planned
Travis had initially hoped to wait until just before the NFL season kicked off on Sept. 5 to make his proposal, but both his family and Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, encouraged him not to delay.
“Scott said, ‘Come on, when are you going to get this done?’” Ed recalled on The Jimmy and Nath Show on August 26. “He was going to make a big production out of it. Wanted to make it uber special. And I told him the same thing Scott told him—asking her is what’s going to make it special, not where you do it.”
When the NFL star finally got down on one knee, both families were overcome with joy. “The family—both sides—kind of assumed this was going to happen because we’d never seen our kids so happy,” Ed added.
Going Public on Instagram
While the engagement marked a new chapter for the couple, Travis and Taylor had already been sharing glimpses of their romance online.
Taylor’s first Instagram post featuring Travis was a selfie with Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, backstage at her Eras Tour show in London.
Travis shared his own Instagram debut with Taylor in July 2025, including a cozy dinner photo that revealed their matching lockscreen pictures of each other.
