Following a reunion between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, that was more than a year in the making — 19 months to be exact — the younger royal has opened up about family. He did so while talking to injured service members during a surprise visit to Kyiv, Ukraine.
“You will feel lost at times, like you lack purpose, but however dark those days are, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Harry said during a panel discussion, according to People. “You just need to look for it, because there will always be someone — a mother, father, sibling, friend, or comrade — there to pick you up.”
“Don’t stay silent. Silence will hold you in the dark,” he added. “Open up to your friends and family, because in doing so, you give them permission to do the same.”
Although he was speaking to service members, he also spoke out about their family members, saying, “The wives and mothers who keep their loved ones on the straight and narrow — they deserve as much respect as anyone who serves.”
Prince Harry Wants to ‘Reset’ His Relationship With His Family, Per a Source
GettyPrince Harry clearly feels that family has an important part in one’s life. That may be why he wants to “reset” the situation with his royal relatives, according to a source that spoke to the Daily Mail.
“This is an important first step towards rebuilding their father-and-son relationship,” the insider added while addressing the reunion. “He has told his father he won’t be giving any interviews about it and his team have been instructed not to brief journalists about what was said.”
Granted, this is just a first step. As the source noted: “There’s a long way to go before Harry can earn his family’s trust but he’s given some assurances.”

That could be why he skipped the reunion between his brother and father — which involved having tea at the king’s London home, Clarence House, per People.
“William would have known that this was going to happen,” the royal insider told the Daily Mail. “It’s not clear how happy he is about it but, you know, sooner or later most families reach some sort of accommodation after a family rift.”
