‘The View’: Sheryl Underwood Joins as Guest Host—See Why Fans Are Excited

Sheryl Underwood is the latest guest-host to sit at the Hot Topics Table of “The View,” and viewers are already excited about her upcoming week of shows.

Underwood is the latest co-host to sit alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Sarah Haines while Alyssa Farah Griffin is on maternity leave. If a clip from her first episode is any indication, fans are ready to hear what she has to say.

How Did Viewers React to Sheryl Underwood’s First Day on ‘The View?’

Right off the bat, Sheryl Underwood wasted no time in letting her opinion be known among her fellow “The View” co-hosts.

Ana Navarro started the political banter right off the bat. She quipped, “If you had come a week earlier, you may have been DHS Secretary.” Underwood deadpanned, “And I would accept.”

Underwood plans to continue bringing her no-nonsense point of view to the daytime talk series throughout the week, where politics, pop culture, and everyday issues are discussed and debated. As the show continues to rotate through its different guest hosts, viewers are eagerly weighing in on each one and adding their commentary online. They seemed impressed by Underwood’s wit and edgy commentary.

X users weighed in on the new week’s panel. “Love her, she is being 100% authentic,” wrote one social media user.

A second penned, “Sheryl is hilarious.” A third follower wrote, “Loved having her on today! She’s a natural!”

What Other Series’ Has Sheryl Underwood Been on?

Sheryl Underwood has years of experience as a panelist. Previously, she co-hosted “The Talk” for 14 seasons, from Seasons 2 through 15. The series ended in December 2024.

When “The Talk” ended, Underwood told Us Weekly that the reason for the series’ success was that each co-host brought a unique element to the table. The sum of those parts was part of its success.

She said, “We came for our time. We did what we needed to do. Now Godspeed to great things.”

According to her official website, the entertainer is a contemporary humorist.

She hosted the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Underwood previously hosted the Sheryl Underwood Radio and Podcast. The website says these shows will return sometime in 2026.

Underwood is one of a series of rotating co-hosts “The View” has introduced during Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave. PEOPLE reported the list includes reality television star Savannah Chrisley, Amanda Carpenter, and former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Abby Huntsman returns, along with Whitney Cummings.

“The View” airs live, weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
