Opening night of No Doubt’s 18-night residency at Sphere in Las Vegas kicked off on May 6, 2026, with lead singer and former “The Voice” coach Gwen Stefani rocking the crowd in colorful outfits. Leading her band’s 30th anniversary celebration of their debut album, “Tragic Kingdom,” Stefani became the first female to headline a show at the massive venue, per People.
The place was packed, as seen in videos shared by fans on social media. But where was Stefani’s husband and fellow “The Voice” alum, Blake Shelton, for her historic night?
Blake Shelton Launched New Las Vegas Residency Dates on the Same Night as Gwen Stefani’s Kickoff
No Doubt’s residency at Sphere, running through mid-June, marks the band’s first extended run of shows in 14 years, according to USA Today. It’s a big deal for the 90s pop-punk band and its fans, but especially for history-making Stefani.
When the band announced its Sphere residency in October 2025, Stefani said in a statement, “The opportunity to create a show at Sphere excites me in a new way. The venue is unique and modern and it opens up a whole new visual palette for us to be creative. Doing it with No Doubt feels like going back in time to relive our history, while also creating something new in a way we never could have imagined.”
Sounds like the kind of milestone Shelton would want to witness, but Stefani’s husband couldn’t be there because he was performing his own show down the street, TMZ reported.
In fact, Shelton launched eight new dates of his own residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on the very same night as No Doubt’s residency kickoff. He announced his May concert dates in January.
Despite their dueling concert dates, TMZ’s sources insisted the couple’s not competing or at odds, noting that Shelton was “bummed to miss (Gwen’s) opening night, but fully plans to catch the show during its run once his schedule frees up.”
Stefani’s kids Kingston, Zuma, and Apolo — whom she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale — also missed her opening night since they’re in school, per TMZ. The outlet said the kids do plan to attend a No Doubt show on a night when they don’t have school the next morning.
Blake Shelton Sent Gwen Stefani Roses Before Her Big Debut
Shelton did take time to let his wife know she was on his mind as they each prepped for their shows miles apart. In her Instagram Stories on May 6, Stefani posted a video of a woman pushing a large dolly into her dressing room, which carried two gigantic bouquets, including one Stefani said looked like a “sphere” of pink roses.
When she pulled out the card, Stefani squealed and said, “Okay, I have the best husband!” She showed that it said, “Good Luck Pretty Girl! I love you! Love – Blake”
The other gorgeous bouquet, meanwhile, came from “Team Blake Shelton,” wishing her well on her opening night.
Although Stefani’s biggest fan may have missed No Doubt’s Sphere debut, she still had plenty of music fans there to jam out and post videos from the concert. One person who wished they could be there commented on one of the concert videos, “She’s such an Icon👏❤️” and another lamented, “The FOMO of it all”
No Doubt’s residency will continue through June 13 with tickets available here. Shelton’s, meanwhile, runs through May 24.
