Kelly Clarkson Adorably Reveals the ‘Funny’ Way Her Kids’ Friends Address Her

Kelly Clarkson revealed the unexpected yet adorable way her kids’ friends call her.

During the latest episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the singer, 44, told Jenna Bush Hager that she’s still “cool” enough to hang around her son Remington, 10, and daughter River, 11.

The “The Voice” coach noted that her kids’ friends have a funny way of addressing her.

“It is funny because kids will use my full name,” Clarkson shared. “They won’t say River or Remy’s mom. They’ll be like, ‘Hi, Kelly Clarkson,’ and they’ll say my full name every time like it’s a game show.”

Kelly Clarkson’s Children Often Visits ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

Kelly Clarkson’s children have become familiar faces on her daytime talk show through their guest appearances.

In March 2025, River and Remington were the highlights of “The Kelly Clarkson Show’s” 1,000th episode special. The former “American Idol” champion played a montage of her kids’ appearances on the show over the years.

“River and Remy, I love you so much. I’m so proud of you both,” Clarkson said in the episode. “They’re just fearless and very bold. They’re more like me as an adult, not what I was like as a child, so they talk a lot too. You are what I’m liking today, my little ones, and every day I love them so much.”

Kelly Clarkson Focuses on Her Kids

In August 2025, Kelly Clarkson’s husband and father of her kids, Brandon Blackstock, tragically passed away from melanoma at 48 years old.

A source told PEOPLE at the time that Clarkson is “heartbroken” for her kids and wants to focus on being “present” for them.

“Kelly is obviously heartbroken for her kids. Losing their dad is incredibly painful and confusing,” the source added. “But she’s also very grounded. She’s not someone who falls apart. She looks at life realistically and does everything she can to make things as steady and loving as possible for her kids.”

Despite everything she’s been through, Clarkson is not giving up hope of finding love again, though it’s not her main focus.

During an appearance on “Today with Jenna and Friends,” the “Stronger” singer revealed she’s not actively looking for romance at the moment, adding that her children’s busy schedules keep her occupied.

“I’m running from my show to baseball practice, and I’m trying to be just there,” she said at the time. “It’s a lot. My mom will tell me, ‘Look, I was a single mom. I didn’t get to make everything. They’re gonna be fine. You turned out fine.'”

Clarkson continued, “I am just trying to be there as much for them [as possible] and we’re a cute little unit. I am trying to adult more.”
