As Snoop Dogg’s family grieves the death of his granddaughter, 11-month-old Codi Dreaux Broadus, the pain of such a tragic loss is sadly familiar. The legendary rapper and coach on “The Voice” has now lost two grandchildren before their first birthdays. Snoop also lost his 10-day-old grandson Kai in 2019, according to CNN.
Snoop has often talked about the joys of being a grandfather, known to them as “Papa Snoop.” His family is coming together to support one another through this latest tragedy.
Snoop Dogg’s Daughter Had Recently Brought Her Baby Girl Home Following 10 Months in the NICU
Snoop’s daughter Cori announced the death of her baby girl via social media on January 31, 2026, sharing a black and white photo of her holding Codi, over which she wrote, “Monday I lost the love of my life. My Codi.”
Less than three weeks prior, Cori and her fiancé, Wayne Deuce, celebrated being able to bring baby Codi home for the first time since her premature birth. After being born three months early in February 2025, Codi spent 10 months in the NICU, and in an Instagram post heralding her homecoming, Cori wrote, “Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all.”
Cori shared that photo again in her Stories on January 31 and wrote, “20 days later? dawg im sick”
Deuce also shared a photo of himself with baby Codi in his Stories, writing, “I been the saddest since u left me Codi Dreaux. But I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you.”
How Snoop Dogg’s Family is Handling Their Latest Loss
At 26, Cori is the youngest of Snoop’s kids with his wife Shante Broadus. They also have sons Cordell, 28, and Cordé, 31. According to NBC, the rapper also has a son, Julian, from a past relationship with Laurie Helmond.
After Cori announced her daughter’s passing, Snoop shared a photo of himself with her, Cordé and Cordell, and captioned it with two emoji — “💖🙏🏾.” His wife shared the post in her Instagram Stories, and Cordell shared it in his, too, writing, “Lil sis, we got you forever.”
Sadly, this is not the first time they’ve been through a loss like this. In 2019, Cordé and his now-wife Soraya Love lost their third child, son Kai, when he was just 10 days old due to a heart defect.
According to CNN, he shared the news on Instagram, writing, “He died in my arms and that feeling of energy will never leave me. Kai wants all of you to kno he’s doing great and wants to continue to inspire those who light is dim.”
The couple created the Kai Heart Foundation and each September, in honor of Kai’s birthday, raise money and awareness, including toy drives and book donations.
