In 2015, the reputation of Elizabeth Holmes—CEO of healthcare company Theranos—went from a lauded self-made billionaire to a scheming con artist overnight. Now, a new documentary has teased a new close look at the weeks leading up to her imprisonment.
Co-directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, “You Can See Everything”, is set for theatrical release on October 16, through A24. The film originally premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 6, as a secret mystery screening.
“You Can See Everything” was filmed back in April 2023, capturing the 34 days before Holmes reported to federal prison. Fielder and Oppenheim worked in secrecy over the last three years to bring the project to life, keeping its boundary-pushing premise under wraps until its surprise festival debut.
The teaser trailer dropped on Sunday, September 6, depicting an unsettling conversation between Fielder and Holmes. In the clip, Fielder questions the disgraced CEO, asking if she is “being real right now”—to which she counters, “I’m always being real,” through an unblinking stare that the interviewer visibly tries to analyze.
The clip was so odd that viewers initially questioned its authenticity, with some assuming it was a promo for an upcoming fictional thriller or mockumentary.

Holmes was first launched into the public eye in late 2013 as the young innovator who revolutionized the blood-testing industry. Under her health-tech company Theranos, she claimed to have invented technology that could run hundreds of medical test using only a single finger-prick of blood—opposed to traditional phlebotomy methods that require several large vials.
After investors poured over $700 million into the startup and thousands of patients utilized the service, the technology was exposed as fraudulent. Suddenly, a company once valued at $9 billion collapsed into a burning pile of lies.
Holmes was subsequently charged with conspiracy and wire fraud. Following a high-profile trial, she was sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison—which is right where Fielder and Oppenheim’s documentary picks up.

As it stands, Holmes is serving her sentence in Texas, with an expected release date in early 2030. In an exclusive 2025 interview with People, Holmes reaffirmed her desire to return to healthcare research.
“There is not a day I have not continued to work on my research and inventions,” she stated, despite her indictment. “I remain completely committed to my dream of making affordable healthcare solutions available to everyone.”
