Bob Saget’s Wife Kelly Rizzo Vulnerably Shares How She Processed the Grief Four Years After His Passing

Full House” star and beloved comedian Bob Saget unexpectedly passed away on January 9, 2022. It was a heartbreaking loss for his former co-stars, fans all over the world, and his entire family, including his wife, Kelly Rizzo.

In the years following Saget’s passing, Kelly Rizzo has done her absolute best to keep his memory alive. In a new social media post, she vulnerably spoke about her late husband and processing grief over the past four years.


Kelly Rizzo Talks Navigating the Grief After Losing Bob Saget

Bob Saget tragically passed away in his hotel room during his comedy tour in 2022, resulting from a fall. Understandably, Kelly Rizzo and the rest of his family members were shocked and heartbroken.

Now, she’s opening up about the grieving process in the days following the horrible news.

“Grief and loss edition: I wanted to use this trend to show my progression since losing my wonderful husband Bob in 2022,” Kelly Rizzo captioned a recent Instagram post. She attached several photos and added the trending “kinda chic” caption over them.

“Obviously these are just some random highlights but for anyone who’s on this journey just know that many of these steps are helpful and many of these achievements are possible,” the 47-year-old added. Always here to discuss the ups and downs of this roller coaster we call life. And thank you all for always being so kind and supportive on this journey.”

“Kinda chic to never stop sharing about the person you lost,” Rizzo wrote over the first photo, featuring a sweet selfie of her and her late husband.

In the following photos, she added that she’s stayed close with many of Bob Saget’s loved ones and enjoyed honoring his memory. She also carved out plenty of time for self-care and processing grief in the aftermath of his passing.


The Podcaster Shares Vulnerable Moments From Her Grief Journal

In the days following Bob Saget’s death, Kelly Rizzo journaled to help with the emotional turmoil.

“I found my grief journal. I had no idea that I even did this, because I wrote in this less than a month after Bob passed away,” Rizzo shared during an episode of her podcast, “Comfort Food.” And to be honest, I was still in such a fog that I didn’t even remember writing in this.”

The “Special Forces” alum noted that her journey was “pretty sparse,” but ultimately helped her feel reconnected to her late husband.

“Hopefully, some of this can help anyone else who’s grieving, anyone else who’s processing, anyone else who wants to see the distance that can come in, for me, it’s been a four-and-a-half-year period,” she added.

Kelly Rizzo documented their last moments together before Bob Saget left for the airport for his upcoming comedy shows.

 “We watched ‘Tick, Tick… Boom!’ together. We raved about how amazing Andrew Garfield was. We ate Sugarfish.”

They told each other, “I love you,” but didn’t kiss.

“I wish so badly we would have [kissed],” Kelly Rizzo shared, explaining that Bob Saget was just getting over COVID and she had it at the time and didn’t want him to get sick again.

“So we didn’t give each other a goodbye kiss, which makes me very sad now. But now at least I remember what our last memory was,” she vulnerably told listeners.
