Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are giving fans a rare glimpse into their low-key life in New York City.
The former “Full House” actresses, both 40, were spotted leaving an office building Tuesday, Sept. 8, dressed casually.
Ashley wore a black top with black jeans, while Mary-Kate opted for a white T-shirt, long black shorts and a sweater draped over her shoulders.
Fans Can’t Get Enough
The appearance quickly caught fans’ attention online, with admirers celebrating the glimpse of the private sisters.
“Love a Olsen sighting,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Gosh, i love them,” while someone else gushed, “My Millennial heart needed this!”
Some added how amazing the two looked in their simple outfits. “Looking fresh faced also I might add.”
One compared it to “spotting royalty” in New York City.
“Screenshotting their ‘fits because we won’t get another siting for 5 more years,” another added.
“Jesus(s) was seen,” another joker.
One commented on their signature oversized bags that often carry. “I love that they always have ludicrously capacious bags.”
The sighting comes just days before New York Fashion Week gets underway, although the Olsens could already be looking toward the next fashion calendar.
It has been rumored, though not confirmed, that Mary-Kate and Ashley could present a new collection for their fashion label, The Row, in Paris at the end of September, according to The Observer.
The Twins Focus on Their Fashion Brand
Fashion remains the center of the sisters’ lives after they stepped away from acting.
Ashley serves as CEO of The Row, while Mary-Kate is the brand’s creative director. The sisters launched the label in 2006, inspired by Ashley’s search for the perfect T-shirt.
“It was something we just wanted for ourselves,” Ashley told WWD in 2015. “It wasn’t something that I thought would ever be a business.”
Building the company was not always easy. Recalling an early effort to sell their collection in Paris, Mary-Kate told WWD, “We would be selling the clothes off of us,” while describing how buyers would examine each garment and ask the sisters to explain their designs.
The Olsens have largely remained out of the spotlight in recent years. They occasionally appear at fashion shows and events, while maintaining tight control over their public image. In 2021, Mary-Kate told i-D magazine, “Discreet people — that’s how we were raised,” in what remains the sisters’ most recent interview.
That privacy has also shaped the way they have promoted The Row.
“We really didn’t want to be in front of it,” Ashley said of the brand’s marketing. “We didn’t necessarily even want to let people know it was us, in a way. I mean, it was one of those things where it was really about the product, to the point where we’re like, ‘Who could we get to kind of front this so we don’t have to?’ I think, to this day, you’ll see we really put the product first.”
The twins’ connection to fashion comes after a childhood spent in front of cameras.
They were just six months old when they were cast as Michelle Tanner on “Full House.” The series debuted in 1987 and starred Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier.
The twins had family milestones to celebrate this summer.
Their older brother, Trent Olsen, married in June, with the twins among the attendees.
Their younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, became a mother this summer, welcoming her first child with husband Robbie Arnett.
