Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he doesn’t want his children to “be exactly like him”. The popular actor shares three children with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey – son Levi, 18, daughter Vida, 16, and son Livingston, 13. Though he hopes to pass lessons and wisdom onto his kids, Matthew’s more concerned with them becoming their own people and hopefully leaving a little something of him and Camila behind on this Earth after they both pass.
What Did Matthew McConaughey Say?
GettyIn an interview with People magazine, “The Wedding Planner” star began by sharing his desire to teach his children what he has learned in all of his years on the planet so far. He said: “Every parent out there, what do you want for your children? You want to pass on some values and things that you built in your own life.”
However the actor tagged on that he wouldn’t want them to be “exactly like him”, noting: “You don’t want them to be exactly like you, but you want them to take some things and keep them alive after you are gone. That’s how you become immortal.”
The interview follows one that the actor had earlier this year on ‘Bear Grylls Is Running Wild’, where he chatted again about the idea of children leaving behind an immortal kind of legacy. The star shared: “I think a man’s a prince until he has children, then he becomes a king. I don’t think there’s anything more important that a man can do.
“In fact, man, we’re mortal. That’s the beginning of our immortality, and hopefully, we’re lucky enough for them to have offspring, and it continues to pass that down.”
Matthew’s Tale From Mexico Revealed
The revelation comes shortly after Matthew revealed another insightful bit of information recently: that he got into some trouble years ago crossing the border in Mexico and Jennifer Lopez actually saved him. The Oscar-winning actor, who rose to prominence in the 90s, shared the story while speaking on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast.
Matthew was pulled over in his truck while attempting to cross the border on the way back from Mexico and feared for the worst. Explaining the situation, Matthew said: “Wedding Planner got me out of a major mess-up in Mexico one time. I pulled in one late night. I’m crossing the border, going way down south, and I get pulled over.
“I’m like, ‘Oh geez, get the wallet out. Here we go. But I brought up, ‘You guys know Jennifer Lopez?’ Ever see Wedding Planner?”
The officers then began to recognize Matthew and he clarified it by saying: “Yeah, yeah, it was me.”
Matthew then noticed the atmosphere of the interaction completely shift and the officers then became excited to be speaking with him. “They were like, ‘Ohhh,’” he recalled. “And we end up taking pictures together, and they let me go.”
Matthew and his wife Camila got married in a private ceremony at their home in Austin, Texas back in 2012. We wish them and their children all the best!
