What Carrie Underwood Just Canned Has Fans Stunned

When she’s not sitting in the judge’s seat on American Idol or taking the stage herself, Carrie Underwood is known for having a love of less starstruck pursuits like garden and cooking.

The “Before He Cheats” singer regularly posts glimpses of life on her Tennessee farm, including a recent Instagram post about growing tromboncino squash. She’s also posted pictures of massive tomatoes and large melons she grew herself.

But over the Labor Day weekend, Carrie filled her Instagram stories with a home pursuit that surprised even her most ardent fans.

The American Idol winner posted a series a pictures showing rows of canning jars, writing, “Future Carrie will thank me, been canning up a storm.”

But it wasn’t the canning that shocked fans. It was WHAT she was canning.

Carrie revealed, “Cleaning out the freezer, had some large moose roasts, made some stew!”

Carrie Underwood’s husband, retired NHL hockey player Mike Fisher, is an avid hunter who often hunts with Carrie’s fellow Idol judge Luke Bryan. So it’s likely he is the source of the frozen moose meat.

Carrie’s Canning Gets Creative

Carrie Underwood even got creative in her moose meat canning. She not only made stew, but whipped up “Mongolian moose,” which she wrote she’d serve over rice.

As she continued her canning posts, Carrie revealed that she ran out of moose meat. So she returned to the freezer to find venison, or deer meat, which she canned as well.

And it’s not the first time she’s gotten creative with canning.

In an Instagram post in April, Carrie wrote, “Canning is the perfect way to make use of everything and save myself some time later on when I need a quick meal! I put about 35 (??) ish pheasants into some soup and pot pie filling, got rid of some of last year’s black and blueberries and made some cobbler filling and tried to do something with all the plums we’ve got growing here. Not sure if I made jam or plum butter or some sort of sauce out of it, but I’ll figure out something to do with it! I feel accomplished!!!”

Carrie Underwood Finds Inspiration on Her Farm

Carrie Underwood doesn’t just get a feeling of accomplishment from growing and canning her own food. She also finds inspiration there.

In one Instagram post about picking blueberries, she wrote, “I went down to the orchard to feed Sugar and the sheep and thought I’d check to see if the pink lemonade blueberries were almost ready. Turns out, some were ready to be picked! What joy!”

Carrie explained that she spends some of her best time with God while she’s out on her land. She wrote, “I was on the next-to-last bush when I thought I’d pray. I love praying out loud in the orchard…it’s so beautiful and peaceful…”

But on this particular day, the singer was in for a surprise. She wrote, “I was about 15 seconds into my chat when I was surprised by a snake in the blueberry bush. Just a rat snake…nothing dangerous. But he was there…JUST as I began to pray. It obviously made me think…about God…about the devil. The devil is always there…watching…lurking…even when we feel at our closest with God.”

Carrie reflected, “Being a Christian isn’t a free ticket out of trouble. The world is full of evil…BUT God is with us. The snake and I kept our eyes on each other…but I got what I came for, finished my prayer and went about my morning…having faith that Mr. Snakey and the devil will both be moving along…out of my orchard and out of my way!”
