Katy Perry hasn’t commented much about her romance with Justin Trudeau, but in a recent Q&A to promote a new project she shared some rare comments about the former prime minister of Canada.
As The Hollywood Reporter reports, she participated in a Q&A at The Grove in Los Angeles, accompanying a screening of her new concert film, “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live From Paris.”
‘Floating Like the Butterfly on the Butterfly’
During the Q&A, Perry was asked if she ever experiences nerves before a performance.
“I don’t typically get nervous,” she shared.
“Maybe I get some butterflies on the first show because it’s all the things coming together, and because of social media, you want to kind of get it right. You can’t really learn along the way,” she added.
However, she admitted that there was one show that proved to stir up some anxiety for her: when the tour rolled into Montreal, and her new beau was seated in the audience.
“In Montreal, I was, like, I can’t look at him,” she recalled.
She also confessed that some shows were smoother than others when it came to knowing Trudeau was watching her perform.
“It wasn’t always peachy keen jelly bean,” Perry said.
“There were days that were hard. Let me tell you, it was hard before July 28, [2005]. And then it got cute. It got really cute. And then I was floating like the butterfly on the butterfly.”
Dolly Parton ‘Was Such a Light’
During another part of the Q&A, Perry opened up about her relationship with Dolly Parton, who passed away at age 80 earlier this week.
The former “American Idol” judge had worked with Parton several times over the years, and recalled the positive energy she continually exuded.
“She was such a light. Her light ripples and will forever ripple, and will shine even brighter now,” Perry gushed, pointing to the legacy of philanthropy that Parton left behind.
“And all the philanthropic work that she does and all the young kids’ literacy that she’s done with sending books to pre-schoolers, I don’t know if everyone knows how mega that is,” she added.
“I got to spend some time with her, and she was so wickedly funny,” Perry said of the late music icon.
“It was amazing. It didn’t seem like she ever had a bad day, and if anything, she would just make a little joke about it. She was an earth angel. Her legacy is one to follow and look up to forever. I think it will continue to expand. Everyone should emulate her — she’s the bar.”
‘My Heart Sank’
Perry had previously paid tribute to Parton in a heartfelt video shared via Instagram.
“Like the rest of the world, my heart sank seeing the news of dear Dolly’s passing. She meant so much to so many people for so long,” she wrote.
“For me, she was an example of a woman who defied the stereotypes for decades. She proved that big boobs, big brains, and a big voice can all exist in one tiny body! But the biggest thing about her by far was her heart,” Perry continued.
“Her way of looking at life with a sense of humor has always been an inspiration to me… I remember having a dream of having her sing with me for my Super Bowl show, popping out of a larger than life rhinestone cowboy boot… and though she couldn’t do it at the time she sent my team a sweet note, through fax… it was 2015! lol,” she added.
“If there’s someone you wanna look up to and model your life after, it’s Dolly. Dolly was glam, funny, and kind as [expletive]. Her star will forever shine bright and I bet you she’s already remodeling them pearly gates with rhinestones. We will always love you Dolly!” she concluded.
