Katy Perry Opens Up About Her Heartbreak After Orlando Bloom Split: ‘Probably the Hardest Time’

Katy Perry‘s love life has been a whirlwind over the past few years.

In the summer of 2025, she and Orlando Bloom ended their engagement and went their separate ways after nearly a decade together, welcoming daughter Daisy Dove during the course of their relationship.

That led her into the arms of her new beau, former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, and in a candid new interview with People the former “American Idol” judge is opening up about both her failed relationship and her current one.

‘The Hardest Time’

“It was probably the hardest time,” Perry said of her split from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star.

“My friends were all hanging out back home,” she said of feeling alone and isolated at the time of the breakup, which came while she was in the midst of a concert tour.

“I was crying and just feeling far away,” she admitted.

However, that dark time in her life didn’t last long.

As she recalled, she decided to cope with her heartbreak by pouring herself into her tour.

“But then my angels went to work,” she said. “They really showed up.”

Those angels, she explained, led her to her current paramour.

“I learned how to step back into my purpose,” Perry she said “And I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life.”

According to Perry, “things shifted” after she met Trudeau during that tour.

Looking back, she truly believes that she manifested the romance, recalling that she wrote down a list of 10 wishes she had for her life.

“No. 10 just says, ‘True Love.’ And I think that’s where we’re at,” she continued.

‘Love of My Life’

During a Q&A earlier this summer, Perry gushed about Trudeau in similarly glowing terms.

“Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that,” Perry said, as reported by Us Weekly. “I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite. I fly super high. Sometimes I need to be anchored, so to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”

She confirmed by declaring, “I am very in love.”

‘One of the Hardest Years of My Life’

This isn’t the first time that Perry has admitted how deeply her breakup with Bloom cut through her.

In fact, she’s opened up about how 2025 had been a particularly rough year for her.

During the world premiere of her concert film at the Tribeca Film Festival back in June, Perry described 2025 as “one of the hardest years of my life.”

“I went through a [expletive] ton,” she said at the time, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

“And there were days that were really, really, really hard,” she continued, revealing that she relied on the vows she had made to keep herself together and not become bogged down in misery.

“And I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans, a promise to my daughter, and a promise to myself,” she declared.
