Caroline Paints Picture of Their Life at Home & Fans Are Loving It
Getty“Nothing about my family is normal,” Caroline wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday, December 27. “I was just taking a much wanted bath…suddenly my mother in law and son just open the doors like it was Zero Dark Thirty…sit down and just start having a casual conversation with me.”
“Oh…and after that, I look outside and Luke is riding around on an excavator,” she said of the “American Idol” judge. “Well, it is normal for us.”
Fans of the Bryans flooded the comment section of Caroline’s post to share just how much they related to her story:
“I’ve learned to just embrace the chaos. I actually kind of thrive on it.”
“Thankful I’m not the only mom who’s son walks in to have a conversation no matter what. I honestly thankful he feels safe too! But it’s so true lol.”
“Boy mom here , mine had built in bathroom radar on a full blast. Since they were born , as soon as I touched the door knob.”
“Same! Not normal family here and love it that way!”
Another fan praised how this snapshot of their family is a testament to how close they are. “I’m sure it may feel a little chaotic at times, but also, that level of comfort with one another is a gift.”
How Luke & Caroline’s Love Story Began
GettyCaroline and Luke met at Georgia Southern University. In an interview with The Huffington Post back in 2012, Luke explained that they “met in college back in fall 1998. At a little bar called Dingus Magee’s in Statesboro, Georgia.”
“It took me eight seconds to figure it out and it took her about eight years to figure it out,” Luke told The Boot in February 2013. “I had to drink a lot before I could go talk to her, but I did. Somehow I managed to ease over there and somewhat be charming. It was one of those situations for me, it was like, ‘Who is that and how do I go talk to her? And, yep, I’m going to marry that girl.'”
“We dated in college and then we broke up for like 5 1/2 years and got back together… and we’ve been depending on each other ever since,” concluded Luke in his Huffington Post interview.
Luke and Caroline got married in 2006 and welcomed their sons Bo and Tate in 2008 and 2010, respectively. After Luke’s sister and brother-in-law passed away, he and Caroline also adopted their three children: Jordan, Kris, and Tilde.
“It’s just what you do as family,” Luke recently explained during an episode of CNN’s podcast “All There Is with Anderson Cooper” in October 2025.
“And I guess you go into a tribe instinct and you do what you can to kind of make it … But Till, you know, it wasn’t necessarily an adoption more like we were, we had to sign paperwork that he’s – he’s our responsibility. And watching him come into our home and have to grieve the loss of his dad was really, really tough. And to watch my wife step up and do the work that she had to do was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen,” Luke said of Caroline.
