Country superstar Luke Bryan isn’t taking an online content creator’s viral critique of his new song lightly. On May 13, 2026, the “American Idol” judge stuck up for himself in two comments left on a now-viral video of an online video made by 23-year-old Skyler Akers, known as @jiujitsuweasel on social media.
In the video rant, first posted on May 11, the same day that Bryan debuted “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” on the “American Idol” finale, Akers insisted the song sounds like an AI-generated tune and wrote, “Luke Bryan explain yourself now.” Instead, Bryan clapped back and told Akers to “chill on the Adderall.”
Instagrammer Skyler Akers Urged Luke Bryan to ‘Explain Yourself’
In the Instagram reel, seen in the post above, Akers gets as close as he can to the camera, passionately speaking directly to Bryan. He starts by asking, “Luke Bryan, what the [expletive] is up with song?”
Akers then played a clip of Bryan’s music video for “Fish Hunt Golf Drink,” with the star singing the lyrics, “Every day would go wake up, coffee, camo, climb tree, wet line, eighteen.”
“I guess, bro,” Akers then says emphatically. “We live in the day and age when people are so dopamine-fried, this clearly AI song is going to pop off! It literally just sounds like someone went to Google Gemini and said, ‘Make country song, but make it sound like a four-year-old [expletive] wrote it.”
Akers continued his rant, saying, “No creativity in (this) day and age. Everyone is so fried. We’re cooked! We’re done.”
The post began gaining steam, with thousands of comments and over 1.4 million views on Instagram when Bryan himself popped up in the comments.
“It’s called a fun song,” he wrote in his first comment, which drew over 2,000 likes. “Just listen and have fun. Go get on a boat quit scrolling on your phone all day.” Bryan followed that up with, “Who are you ? Chill on the adderall”
Luke Bryan’s New Song Could Become His 33rd Number One
During the “American Idol” finale, Bryan announced his newest album, “Signs,” will be released in September and include his newest single. If “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” skyrockets up the charts like most of his songs, it could become his whopping 33rd number one country single, per Country Now.
According to a press release from his record label, Universal, Bryan wrote “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” with Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem. The duo has co-written many hit country songs with other artists, including Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen’s “Mamaw’s House” and Wallen’s “This Side of a Dust Cloud.”
The lyrics that Akers shared in his video didn’t give the full picture, only a couple of lines from the chorus. For context, the lyrics include:
“If I could have it my own way you know / Let me tell you how every day would go:
Wake up, coffee
Camo, climb tree
Wet line, 18
Fish, hunt, golf, drink
All fall, all spring, all summer long
I’ll be living it up and living it on
A country boy’s dream
Fish, hunt, golf, drink”
In a statement about co-writing multiple songs on his upcoming album, Bryan said, “I was able to co-write a few, then turn to the writers in Nashville to round them out. I feel like my fans have always let me record songs that make you feel good, so I went into this album wanting everyone to just have fun.”
