Over a month ago, “Big Brother” champion Morgan Willett shook the reality TV world when she hard-launched her relationship with “Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” star Jonathon Johnson.
And, as their followers continue to pour in support for the new couple, Willett is getting candid about how their connection first began.
Morgan Willett Shares How She Started Dating Jonathon Johnson
In a “Get Ready With Me” video on Instagram, Willett, who won the first and only season of “Big Brother: Over the Top,” got candid about how she and Johnson first connected.
“I honestly wish we had a more epic meet-cute story,” she started off. “Like I was on an airplane and he sat next to me.”
As it turns out, however, the two had been connected for a while because they have the same manager. “About a year ago, she tried to set me up with Jonathon,” she revealed. “I ignored her.”
But while that might seem like disinterest, Willett just wasn’t in the right headspace at the time. “It is really true what they say about timing because had we both messaged each other or got linked up a year ago, I don’t think we were in the right place,” she said, before poking fun at Johnson saying, “some of us went on ‘Bachelor in Paradise.'”
A few months after the manager’s first attempt, Willett made some changes. “I had just decided my word for the year for the following year was being intentional,” she said. “In honor of being intentional, I finally cut off something that was no longer serving me.”
“Ladies, if you’re out there, cut the situationship,” she advised.
After splitting her previous connection, Willett was now single and looking for something more meaningful. That’s when Johnson popped up on her Instagram.
“I always say this, and I wholeheartedly believe it: ‘When you shut one door, another one will always open,'” she said. “I was scrolling Instagram one day and he popped up, seems like our lifestyles mesh, so what did I do? I texted my manager immediately and I said ‘Is this man still single?'”
After receiving a resounding yes, Willett reached out to Johnson via DM and the two started chatting right away. “He wants everyone to know that he immediately asked me to dinner,” she said.
Their date, however, had to wait two weeks because of Willett’s busy schedule. “He was more than happy to wait,” she said. When she returned, the two went on their long-awaited date. “We didn’t stop talking for hours,” Johnson added.
“Biggest takeaways: timing is everything, don’t be scared to send a message, give the influencer a chance, & if they wait two weeks to take you on a date and the date lasts 6+ hours.. ding, ding, ding we have a winner,” Willett wrote in the caption.
