Lainey Wilson Opens Up About Her Dreams of Motherhood

Lainey Wilson is getting candid about one of the most personal decisions she’s made—choosing to freeze her eggs as she looks ahead to her future.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, the country star shared that the choice came from a desire to take control of her own timeline, especially in an industry where life moves fast and expectations can feel overwhelming.

Wilson Did It on Her Own Timeline

“I think the world and just people in general try to give you a timeline when things should be happening,” Wilson explained.

She added that she feels “so thankful” she had the opportunity to go through the egg retrieval process—and that it was successful.

For years, Wilson has been focused on building her music career, and it’s paid off.

But now, she’s also thinking about what comes next.

“I’ve focused on my career for so long, and I definitely have something to show for it with my music,” she said, “but I have other dreams too.”

Those dreams now include starting a family with her fiancé, former NFL player Devlin Hodges.

Wilson Didn’t Always Think About Motherhood

Still, Wilson admitted that wasn’t always part of her plan.

“When I was a kid, I wasn’t dreaming about my wedding day,” she shared. Instead, her focus was on music milestones—like performing at legendary venues. “The Lord surprises you at times and puts other dreams in your heart you didn’t know you had.”

Wilson said she ultimately decided to move forward with freezing her eggs while waiting for Hodges to propose.

“I knew that I was going to end up with Duck,” she said with a laugh, joking that she was getting impatient. But the decision had already been made.

“I found a window in my schedule… and I just made this a big priority,” she explained, noting how important it was to carve out time amid her busy touring life.

Even with the physical and emotional toll of the procedure, she didn’t slow down.

Just two days after the egg retrieval, Wilson began filming her upcoming movie debut, admitting her “hormones were all over the place.” Still, she felt confident in her choice.

“The way this business works, time completely flies,” she said. “I’m scheduling things two years out. I just wanted to make sure that when the time comes… I will hopefully be given that opportunity.”

The Two Became Engaged in 2025

Her relationship with Hodges has also played a major role in shaping her future goals.

After he proposed in February 2025, Wilson described it as one of the happiest moments of her life. “He makes me want to be a better person,” she said. “We’re a good team.”

Looking ahead, Wilson is optimistic about what’s to come. “I think I’d make a great mama,” she shared, adding that building a family together is “definitely a dream.”

Fans will get an even closer look at her journey in her upcoming Netflix documentary, where she reflects on both her career and the deeply personal choices shaping her future.
